Re: Shoud Gilbert cautioned/sacked/traded

Should recieve a Stokes type suspension, possibly a little less severe, due to the fact there was nothing Illegal with what he did.

In a private case, roo, dal and zac all have a case against him, but its not like criminal law, where the police can pursue, if the one who's harmed, chooses not to.

Shouldn't be sacked or traded. As much of a tool as he is, everyone deserves a second chance. Look at Krakouer, Carey etc.

Both sacked/trade to get their second chances though...

Agreed, and I'd also like to know why adults having sex with minors are still playing football. Forget cautioned/sacked/traded, they should be imprisoned. There are laws in this country governing this behaviour, they obviously don't apply to footballers.

What about minors that pose as 19 year olds, using fake ID to enter nightclubs to chase after AFL footballers?

Don't make it sound like she was some innocent little child that was preyed upon by footballers.

Thank you Perry Mason.

Lets just go hysterical and make completely wrong statements on an internet forum, presented as if they were gospel truth.

Gilbert may be stupid, but that doesn't make you any smarter.

( PS. This side of the issue has been investigated and put to rest many months ago, and the vietnam war is over as well).

That's what I don't get. If this girl really wanted "revenge" she'd start laying statutory rape charges on them. Why hasn't this happened?
Is 16/17 the legal age or 18 for girls?

16 is the age of consent *******. Been said a million times since the last incident.

That investigation was about whether he made contact with the girl on school property. Officially they cleared sam of making contact with her on school property but in reality it was a case of he said she said. There is still question marks about that the outcome from that investigation because past allegations of a cover up(by Saints fans in the Victorian Police Force) made by one of the investigating officers into the Milne allegations.

Which could have been a case for the "position of authority" which needs to be there for any criminal charges from having sex with a 16 year old.
( which is why the cop involved ended up getting charged ).

WTF? Are you trying to link it with the Milne case?

Who needs you conspiracy nutters?

I am just showing police investigations involving St Kilda have had doubt cast over them because of the allegations of a cover up.
Any one who sleeps with a minor should be jailed not just people in a position of authority.

Thank you for your take on what the law should be.
When you are supreme dictator you can instigate and enforce your law.

Personally I wouldn't like to see some young bloke ( and I'm not talking footy players in particular here, i'd suggest it happens a lot in the general community), life ruined becuase he didn't ask the girl who enjoyed shagging him (baby ) for I.D.

Let's just say I've seen more pictures than what I would have liked!

I can see both sides of the story here - and from where I'm sitting, it's a crap view for both parties. But I can also appreciate you people have a right to talk about it. I just reckon some things are off limits.

Considering she said today that;

She was 16 when, in February, several Saints players visited her high school in Melbourne's south-east for a community event. A month later, she was at an athletics meeting in Sydney when the Saints beat the Swans at home. She waited with a friend by the change rooms after the game to see the players

It's a case of she said, she said, she confirmed that she met two St Kilda players in Sydney after the game.

She then said:
Later, she says, she started seeing defender Sam Gilbert. "It made me feel like I was this really special girl who had sort of just been in the right place at the right time.

This was after the two Saints players were cleared by Police of any wrongdoing and I would assume Gilbert would not have been one of the original 2.

I'm surprised you are still quoting her.

Are you able to point to a single thing she has said in this entire episode that has actually PROOVED to be fact?

My observation of this woman is that everything is a tiny bit of reality mixed with outright fabrication and fantasy.

Re: Shoud Gilbert cautioned/sacked/traded

i reckon he'll spend the first part of the season in the VFL (4 weeks or so), then traded at years end, has good trade value, dont think this will hurt his trade value much, it was stupid yes, it was unlucky yes, but it wasnt malicious from his part, just stupid, funny how bad luck follows stupid people isnt it lol, will probably request a trade IMO.

Would be MORE than happy to have someone of Gilberts calibre on the trade market, I just doubt it will come to this over something that, quite frankly, is very trivial.

The outcome may not have been trivial, but his part in it certainly is.

Where's the roof? Scorned teenagers are notorious for lying.

While Gilbert is with the Saints he hurts their image or brand.

He was there in the Lovett situation, the Qlds boys(Beams)
alleged unprotected sex with a 16/17 year old.
took incriminating pictures of teammates .. we only saw 2. what about the rest.

If there was free agency with rules of trading and dealing before the season, he would be gone you would think..

Ignorance and stupidity are not excuses for criminal behavior.
It sounds like your saying that under age girls who physically develop faster than average girls are fair game for any man over 18.

Memo: there is a suppression order in place re the publication of the girl's name and/or image. Cease and desist.
Suppression orders in this day an age, especially when an issue began online is kind of like trying to put out a fire with a water pistol.

And she is the one dropping most of the lit matches...
