Should the AFC recruit Brant Chambers?

This looked like a possibility last year, hard to tell from over in Perth. This weekend he kicked a bag of 10 (not the first time). Seems like an ideal strong FF that would allow for Tippett and Walker to work off his central role with Gill and Sellar out at HF area. Do people think he would fit in and be worth a late pick??

Was his first time actually. 9(3 or 4 times) was his previous best until today.

We could do worse thats for sure. He'd more than hold his own at FF. Troy Wilson anyone. Not everyone is Adam Richardson or Perrie. He's a damn sight better than Perrie as a marking forward that is for sure. Could do worse.

But for now Walker and Gill should be the first choices.

Oh dear our forward line is going backwards fast.

We have some good potential players on the list lets give them a go and strike a line to all those that have tried and failed. Maybe take a punt or two through good drafting on a potential super forward!

Actually maybe someone could outline the draft selection used for each top forward at every club.

Pavlich ? etc Oooops the last one may be a little sensitive seeing that we choked and didnt pick him. With that said can looks play a role in picking a glamour forward, who in their right mind thought yep Kenny will be super forward over Pavlich, anyways. Just being silly. lol

Interestingly, a few of the forwards you listed have been traded. Hall, Mooney, Thompson.

Mooney was part of the trade that got Colbert to the Roos. He was initially a late pick though. I can't the trades involving Hall and Thompson, but as I recall Hall was an earlyish selection and Thompson very late. Buddy was famously Pick 5 and Fev was a third round pick.

With that said, Thompson got dropped this week and he was never the superstar you're making out - just solid. Mooney is made to look better by the delivery he gets. Still a good player, but not a superstar.

It's all well and good to say we should punt on young key forwards and hope that we get a star. The truth is, that's what all clubs do. For every Fevola, you have 10 Josh Krueger's, Chad Gibson's, Brent Hall's, Wayde Skipper's (mind you, Skipper is still on the Dogs list!)

I guess given that it has been about 10 years since he has left our club, I would have thought by now we would have unearthed someone along the way.

I hope Tex, Sellar or Tippett is one of those players to be one of our top forward players in the next 10 years.

Franklin might have only gone at #5, but with three teams earning priority draft picks that year, they were the only ones to ever have a chance of drafting him.

Hawthorn wanted Franklin, but gambled on being able to get both Roughead and Franklin. The gamble paid off.

Brant Chambers (-). 0 AFL Games/0 goals and 0.00 marks per game.

If Chambers was/is a "damn sight better" marking forward than Perrie he's been terribly ill-advised over the course of his career.

And there'd be about 10 other clubs who could have similar complaints. Superstar key forwards are rare. Like you said, we need to keep trying to find one. All I'm saying is that we are trying.
