Sick of defending the MFC

Melbourne really lack a winning culture. If I was management there I would be looking to offer someone like Chapman big bucks and a 2 year deal to come in and show the team how to fight wins out.

They've also failed their supporters and millions of TV viewers have been cruelly subjected to the rubbish they constantly dish up.

Damn your problems are so terrible that you are getting subpar content for free, Melbourne don't deserve their licence for making your life so miserable.

Melbourne treats its senior players with disrespect. Scully left for a multitude of reasons.

How do you know that?

Your team brought shame and disgrace to an entire city.

Your team's wretched culture destroyed the reputations, future employment prospects and, in a couple of cases, the lives of a number of young men.

As a West Coast supporter, you should have the humility and grace to recognize the damage your club did to our game and to my state, and accordingly be appropriately humble when talking about struggling teams.

I like how people continue to ignore your rants nowadays.

Ehh, take the two best forwards out of most teams (in our case the two best by a mile) and they will struggle to convert inside 50s. At least we are getting close in the possession counts.

Excuses!

I guess its easy to see the glass half full when your too busy skiing in the Swiss Alps to attend Melbourne games!

Typical Dees supporter....;)

All skiing was cancelled to watch that horrible game Saturday afternoon. I did log on early to watch Brisbane almost choke it up against the Gold Coast though ;-)

Id love to get CHappy to the MFC to show this list about heart and hard work , but why would he leave Geelong, the club he has played for his whole life with distinction? do you think hes going to be squeezed out?

The thing is, if a player left their club to teach Melbourne about dedication, the lesson would already be pointless. We won't learn anything by importing other's values wholesale. We've got to find some resourcefulness and determination within ourselves, not look to others make us want to work harder. We should bring in outside players to fill list shortcomings, but we've got to do the hard work ourselves. There won't be any magic bullets - never will be. When has there ever been a successful case of a player(s) being brought in to a crappy club environment and turning them into champions? I can't think of one. Any club that achieves greatness does it through formulating their own values and applying their own work ethic.

I don't know how the hell this is ever going to happen, but I know that we are going to have to do it ourselves. We aren't going to buy or import ourselves out of this hole. Even if we bought in the entire Collingwood management and player list - it still wouldn't fix Melbourne's problem. We'd still lose somehow, because we lack the conviction to win as Melbourne. We've got to arrive as a winning entity. We've got to start seeing Melbourne as a club that wins, and hates to lose.

Why don't we ever do something team building like walk the Kokoda Track or go to Arizona? I don't know, anything to shake the mindset of this group. We've got to build some teamwork in any way we can. We just don't play or believe as a team.

Have we failed McDonald, Frawley, Trengove, Jones etc. Whats with your baseless Melbourne hatred?

Absolutely failed these guys, only Frawley has reached his potential. The administration flicked the last on field leader the club had a couple of years back & you have been wallowing both on & off the field ever since.

Its not a hatred of Melbourne FC, its a lack of respect. North is another club that is a cot case, but it has proven its place on ground in the national comp - still there are too many teams in Melbourne.

I have had enough of defending something that doesnt deserve to be defended,

The Melbourne Football Club is a pitiful excuse for a sporting organisation.

Going nowhere at a million miles an hour, with absolutely no light in sight. Just a long road of darkness.

How is it possible that we could actually go out and find a WORSE coach than Dean Bailey? Well we have done the impossible by hiring Neeld. Thanks for nothing once again Gary Lyon.

The list is a disgrace, the game plan is a farce, and the whole club has no fabric or soul. no finals since 2006, and our record since then is worse than anything Fitzroy ever dished up.

Wasting top picks on rubbish players Watts, Trengove, Morton and Scully (who we were over- compensated for but will stuff those picksup anyway) has set us back another decade.

I will not defend this joke of a club any longer.

Cheer up - it could be worse. You could be a Carlton supporter.

i don't think chappy will leave and i would hate it if he did but i wouldn't begrudge him. he's after a 2 year contract and the club only wants to give him one. if a side offered him 2 years and huge money he might consider it - i hope not though

Haha, what a shitty post, is it possible to bookmark a post so I can come back and laugh at it later?

Not proud of that period, we went to hell, got back up, got off the bottom & are powering onward & upward.

Melbourne have done none of that, there are too many teams in Melbourne, so thanks for your advice, clearly your mob are without sin, thanks but no thanks for your advice.

Melbourne are serial non performers with fans that wont go an extra 1.5 kms ...

Melbourne giving the boot to their experienced players too quickly was an extremely foolish decision which they are still holding the can on. Getting rid of McDonald, Bruce, Miller and Co was a gross error. It created a massive gulf in terms of veteran guidance and experience which left a huge void in leadership. Brad Green has to be one of the worst captains ever to grace the field.

I know a lot of Melbourne supports say something along the lines that McDonald and Co were either too old or not talented enough but that is looking at the problem too narrowly. It is not just purely the talent but the leadership, experience and veteran know-how that those guys brought to the table. When they were kicked out it should not be surprising to see Melbourne stuggling today.

GWS had the right idea how to go about it. Get a few experienced heads like Power, Brogan, Cornes and surprise, surprise, McDonald to guide the kids along the way, along with a couple of younger players with great leadership qualities (Ward and Davis).

Dumping all the wisened veterans and giving the responsbility to younger players with no guidance (Trengove and Grimes) or to people who don't have a clue (Green) the way Melbourne did, is exactly the way NOT to do it.

Back to the drawing board.

Form what I've seen of Melbourne over the last couple of years I'm starting to think medicority is acceptable. I've seen little to like from Melbourne over the last couple of years and the only shining light for them this year is with new mature players who haven't been brainwashed into the culture acceptance of their position in the bottom half of the ladder. Melbourne are staring at a Richmond-esq abyss where they will be a failure for the next generation and from the outside they look like they are willing to jump in feet first.

Just came here to say the MFC have had THE WORST luck of any club EVER in the last 12 months. The turn of events have been incredibly unfair and unfortunate. I really hope you guys rise and play finals in the years to come.

Good luck.
