Proud of the effort tonight, never fun losing a big final but we competed hard and the youngsters will be better for the experience of these big games in the last 2 months of the year and the 2 finals in front of 90k fans. Would have been nice to field our full strength team to see if we could have went with them, really missed that extra midfielder.

We fought but we weren’t good enough. Too many missed opportunities.
Bad kicking is bad footy.
Like the flu, it goes around & shakes the confidence of the team.

Super effort. A very good year, considering.

Plenty to take out of the game and year, but we wasted a lot of opportunities tonight.

Trying to keep it in perspective, we were never meant to even make the finals this year.

The umpires were truly horrible when the game was in the balance. We get the calls Melbourne did, we win the match.

I sort of hope Melbourne beat the Eagles just so Richmond can beat them by 100+ in the granny

We all want to watch a win - so it's not easy to say, "Well, yeah, but it's not that big a deal."

...but actually, it's not. Not this time. This isn't 2011 or 2012, when we were on the cusp of glory and seemingly threw it all away. We played this season in a way which saw us firmly in the mix, and that was beyond most of our expectations. We've played this finals series in a way which has seen us firmly on the outer - and although it's been frustrasting because we can see that we are capable of more, this isn't a last gasp from an aging team...we've got a strong future ahead.

The youth will be better for the run, and the holes in the structure are obvious for all to see.

Unlucky to lose Stratton and JOM at the wrong moment; with a slightly different line-up, and us taking our chances in the second, and we might've gone another week in. ...but actually, in the long term, we might be better for the rest and the run at next year.

Gutted for Big Boy and Henderson, who both played brilliantly.

Richmond look the best team left in the comp, but I'm not going to complain about a third fairytale ending in a row - Dogs, Richmond and then Melbourne? Yeah, I reckon that's worth cheering on.

Is there a more punchable face in the AFL?
