So Luke Hodge can only play 'elite' football as a loose man after all...

Imagine how entertaining HP is gonna be by the end of the season???!! The mind boggles....I reckon his head will explode like a fembot from thinking up excuses.

Oh, there'll be plenty of explosions alright. Not necessarily head explosions mind you.

There's plenty of Luke Hodge pics around, you know ;)

Again the way our forwards were kicking it may have been another 17 points still not as good or more influential a game as Mater's take him out of the 92 final and Geelong win the game take Hodge out and we still lose

I'll be generous to your mob and put you down for 4.13.

That's 37 points. Add one goal that Hodge kicked and we have a 43 point impact. That's actually more than KB's 7 goals, I'm putting Hodge ahead of KB now.

And that's being generous to Geelong

Add to that the fact that Geelong were so inaccurate was because they kicked wide to avoid Hodge and thus were taking pot shots from the boundary. . .:thumbsu:

Herculean stuff Hodgey, no wonder so many Cats have flocked to this thread.

There won't be any need for excuses by the end of the season. By Round 14 Hodge will have enough gametime to offset the lack of pre-season and he will once again lead the charge to September.

To pre-empt 99% of Hawthorn responses, I have not forgotten that the Hawks won the GF, and Hodge the Norm Smith.

Is it mere coincidence however, that Hodge has had quite an inauspicious start to the year while Gilham and Croad have been absent?

I do recall hearing from Hawthorn supporters over the off-season, in light of Hodge's outstanding form over the last 6-8 weeks of the year, that he:

- was 'the most versatile player in the comp'
- could 'play any position on the ground except ruck'
- was 'top 3 in the comp'
- was 'the best player in the comp'
- ...bla bla bla

Doesn't seem quite so now...

What do others reckon?

Pretty happy with him zoning off loose in attack.... helped win us a cup.... Do you get upset when your captain does it?

OP: Confirmed again.

Gets flogged by Monfries so badly he has to be moved. Surely he would go to the midfield?

Nope, goes to the forward line where he proceeds to let his opponent McPhee run off him and provide an option through the middle.

The only place left to go was the middle, where all he could do was handball the footy to Essendon players

How was the sitter where he shat himself :thumbsu:

Geez there are alot of people on here who just can't wait to sink the boots in. Hodge's seasons up until 09 have been outstanding and justified his number one draft pick.

Yeah, he is playing like a Canadian Rugby player (no offense to Myke Pyke), but even injured on one leg he is still doing better than some/most of his teammates, yet I hear very few people taking shots at them. How man Hodge threads are on the bay atm?

The Hawks in general are playing poor footy, call it what you will - premiership hangover, cockyness whatever you like.

I have found the majority of people posting on these types of threads are
- Hawthorn fan's (for obvious reasons)
- Supporters of underachieving clubs/clubs with nothing to brag about YET
- Geelong supporters, possibly critical of Hodge as he was the NS winner in the grand final last year.

I am willing to bet by the end of the year, he will come good and those taking shots will have to find a new gun to pick on

Luke Hodge - The next Shane Woewodin?

Thread title speaks for itself. After winning the chas Shane Woewodin's form dropped off dramatically, he got traded and disappeared from the AFL scene shortly after. After Hodgey's horror season and insipid performance tonight all signs are pointing to the fact that he may be facing a similar fate. As we all know he won the Norm Smith last year but hasnt been able to get near the footy at all in 2009. Every time another team has manned him up he has been towelled him up - Monfries and Carrazzo have both made him look second rate. Clarkson got so desperate tonight that he tried him up forward and in the midfield and still had no success. How many more games can the Hawks afford to carry Hodge? Will he be on the trade table at the end of the year? How many more seasons does yesterday's hero have left in him before he disappears?

Hawks woulda won if Hodge played tonight

Make no mistake, once the Hawks regain Hodge, Mitchell, Taylor etc they will become the great team we all knew they would be.

Re: Luke Hodge - The next Shane Woewodin?

You've got it all wrong dude, it's his leadership that makes him an all time great:p 'he's the GENERALL":D

Re: Hawks woulda won if Hodge played tonight

You still angry Stokes did not man him up, you need to let it go

Hardly, I'm actually ecstatic in the realisation that it will never happen again:thumbsu:

Hodge was a good player who benefitted from a coach who found a nieche for him, now that neiche is no longer viable he is a hack of the highest order.

I can't wait to read all about him in the papers this week

Re: Luke Hodge - The next Shane Woewodin?

To think Hodge was rated top 5 in the competition :|

Most overrated player in the game by an absolute mile.
