Everyone thrives more in their own conditions that’s got to be a given but I think Elgar averaging 47 as an opener in SA is one kind of anomaly in the home town bully argument

Clearly he’s not any sort of great player and there’s no doubt he’d have had plenty of chances at times to play on friendly SA wickets but he’d have had a lot of tough ones to bat on too

Elgar is one of those old school openers that can grind out an ugly innings on a tough pitch like today, deserves more respect than he gets.

Btw I like it how Elgar deserves more respect while Warner is a overrated home bully despite both of them having poor away records

He's been a damn good opener in South Africa in conditions he thrives in but he averages 27 away from home. He gets about as much respect as he deserves I'd say.
