I think with Johannesburg it's the fast pitch combined with the altitude that leads to enormous scores being posted there. There was some pretty atrocious bowling going on though, Abbott in particular was completely rattled by Gayle's assault. Despite being completely one sided in favour of the batsmen I found it a pretty enjoyable game to watch - Miller clearing the grandstands was an awesome exhibition of power, du Plessis innings was brilliant with the mix of clean hitting and swift running between the wickets and then the brutality of the Gayle and Samuels show to top it off.

You underestimate a Gayle force wind. Couldnt believe my eyes, the way he plays he makes watching the first 10 overs of an ODI or T20 worth watching.
