I never said he can't open the batting and play the odd good innings but he still isn't a great test opener, not that SA have any better options for that position though especially with Elgar retiring.

You said he’s not a test opener if I’m not mistaken.

He averages 40 opening the batting.

The best thing about this innings is that for most of it he hasn’t even had to improvise. He’s played just some beautiful cricket shots on a deck that only one other batsman has really even looked remotely comfortable on - who happens to be an all time great of the sport
