Duffton v The mighty Bombers should be a cracker, bombers are starting to find there feet could be 2 in a row for the Eagles see the bombers fly up up :)
Agree. Think this will be a very good game. Think it may come down to who coaches their sides better and at the moment corwy is doing a fantastic job. Also think that karl (longer than a colgate tube) gurtler has got the sidelines sorted out well. Could be a prelude to a finals clash this weekend.

I am hearing some very interesting rumours from our game against Cantebury on the weekend, Firstly i would like to state i dont necesessarily believe them because surely no club could be this ARROGANT to have done such things!!!

Id love to get Smuu's thoughts on this rumour!!!

So the story goes that 1 of the cantebury reserves players, told a more senior reserve player from Skye That Cantebury DELIBERATLY dropped 4 senior players to the reserves so they could garuntee a win in Both Games!! This is based on the belief that the Cantebury Seniors would DESTROY skye because they didnt rate us at all???

surely this is a lie Smuu???

Anyways to more important matters, Smuu how is the Coach?? He went off just before half time with a hamstring tear i hear, for him not to come back on at all it must be fairly serious, i hear maybe 3 or 4 games?? couldnt come at a worst time for you guys hey??

No.31 was outstanding for you guys and I thought no 47 was pretty good also, i notice they didnt get best on ground for you boys, especially 31 who i though was clearly your best player???

SMUU

How come No.3 Jenkins? played 2's. Killed Skye last year. slayed them on the weekend in the magoo's
Firstly we did not stack the two's we were 1 and 2 on the week end desperate for a win in the seniors so why would we drop 4 players needed to get a win. If your observing the 3 or 4 blokes who were semi-regulars in the ones last year playng two's well they have been there all year. As for Jenko that will be the only week i will have him in the two's he just arrived back from a 6 week stint on the piss in london and hasn't trained so he was only able to play magoos. Yeah not sure who does the best but luke and paul were preety good again, i thought mazu was best on though. Danny not looking to good for about 3 or 4 but will find out tonight, as you said mad man terrible time to cop an injury to probably our best player, but thats footy:rolleyes:

Don't stir up shi*t Madman I can guarantee you we have not rested any players for any game. we are flat out trying to get a win. Jenks asked to play in the 2's as he has been away. Skye played well took their opportunities in front of goal which we clearly didn't. Canterbury has never disrespected any opposition in any game since I've been at the club, and never will. Sandown away will not be an easy game but as always we'll play our best side available and have a crack. We look forward to every challenge footy throws at us - because thats footy if it was a walk in the park each week it would be boring.

Been reading this thread maybe these guys were dropped for not training, or other reasons as stated ? I dont think at this time of year any club would sacrifice a senior victory and drop senior players just so as there reserves could maybe get a win ?? Canterbury are struggling going by results so what would be achieved other then player disapline maybe ?

All it is, is rumour. As Smuu has said, jenko had been away, and would not have been able to play seniors, so he played reserves. As far as the rest are concerned, they have all been reserve players throughout these first 4 games. No one was dropped for disciplinary reasons, there is simply a different mix of players this year, which I am sure a lot of clubs are experiencing this year?!
Only facts are that Canterbury had the best team available in their seniors team and went down to skye. The reserves had the next best available team in and beat Skye, plain and simple!

Fair enough

as I said, when I heard it on saturday night i thought it was the most ridicolous thing i had heard in a while. the only reason it popped in my mind again is someone reported that Cantebury had 21 injured players?? That to me sounded interesting, and also the abysmal display we put on the park round 18 of last year

But hearing what you boys say I have no queries at all, just repeating what one of your reserves players has (eligibly) said......

Was he eligible (of age) to say it or did he "legitamatly" say it.... or are you thinking "alledgedly" with an A whiskadoo sorrym V1.2 or 3 or whoever you are, I just hope you're not the bloke with the big ego and the knee brace!

At the moment I see a lot of blokes telling PORKY PIE'S. It's not that hard to be honest... really! Ask your Dad!

"Allegedly" you are from Skye cat man? It's ironic telling people how to spell, but in doing so, spell it wrong yourself. I also don't see why you, of all people, are the one having a go, because 90% of your posts make no sense.

Looking at how close the finals race will be this year, it kind of sucks that the change to fixtures this year will no doubt play a big part in who makes it and who doesn't, with teams being played 3 times. Looking like 6 finals contenders, not sure about Dandy but count them at this stage. Skye get cerberus/sandown three times, whereas poor old canterbury have to play dandy/mt/skye/doveton three times, making it a lot harder for them.

This is a good point the SFL went the easy way out by trying to get the 3 ramaining finalists from last year to play each other 3 times Mt,Cantb,Doveton, the remaining sides outside of the 4 playing each other 3 times. Its a bit like the AFL draft you get penilised for finishing higher the next season in saying that it would of been a difficult puzzle to solve with 8 sides this year.

They have this problem every year up in diamond valley league where they have 18 teams or something, and you have to play 4 teams twice. They always work it so teams who finished lower, get to play other teams that finished lower. So they don't have such a hard time trying to compete. So it is a bit of a toss up when building the fixture, to keep all that in mind, but I would have preferred to see the SFL out there trying to recruit another team rather than try and work out who plays who 3 times.

Skye play Canterbury only twice I believe. It would be tough for the league when you don't know a year later who has picked up and who has lost players. At the end of the day the best team over the course of the entire season will still win. If Skye make the finals only because we get to play Sandown and Cereberus twice I can't see us making an impact. Anyway both those clubs can't be written off yet.

Rounds 4, 11 and 18.

You make a valid point though, if you only snuck into the finals because of your lucky draw, then you probably wont make it past the first game.
