I'm going to be as optimistic as I can and I think they are going to use Jackson all over the ground and therefore will squeeze Treacy in. They also love that Sturt has realised that pressure is the key to him getting a game and will reward him with the sub (I just cant see us playing both of them).

Ryan Pearce Young
Clark Cox Chapman
Aish Brayshaw Henry
Freddy Jackson Schultz
Switta Tabs Fyfe

Darcy Serong O'Meara

Brodie Walker Treacy Hughes

Sub: Sturt

Emg: Banfield, Davies, Wilson
Like this side (noting that Davies is travelling for the experience). In due course, I'd like to see O'Driscoll and Amiss in for Hughes and Tabs.

Barring injury, I reckon this will be the round 1 side.
Funny how things change in a preseason. Nobody had Henry, Sturt or Hughes in the best 22 3 months ago.

Tabs was giving Adelaide all sorts of problems in the preseason so they pulled him early. He's going to be the Saints defence biggest headache and won't miss while he is fit.

Sturt and Hughes to swap as sub. If Sturt is in the team to kick goals he should have TOG whilst Hughes provides more options for a positional sub.

Can't see how we can play Jackson, Treacy, Fyfe and Tabs in the forward line at the same time (Sturt starting on the bench and Banfield sub). I'd prefer Treacy over Tabs, at least for a week or two. Walters is an interesting one - even fully fit he's not playing unless one of Switta, Frederick or Schultz comes out. And we're starting a fit future gun key forward in the Ressies! I think this is going to be fun.
Fun! You jest, sirrah!
Nah - I guess kind of fun when the ridiculous Freo-follower pre-game nerves quieten down (whenever that might be)...

Looks pretty close. I’m not so sure as others that Sturt plays - the full text from JLO definitely didn’t say he’s a sure thing.

my 1 change is Banfield in to sub for sturt

I’m no Hughes fan ( we call him howler at my house ) but I don’t mind him this week vs Mason Wood

Wood was pretty good in the Saints games I watched last year and if I was the saints I’d be hoping we went with Aish and Henry and get him to push fwd all day … he’s got a 3-4 goal game in him doing that if we try to play either of those boys on him

SQUAD v ST KILDA
B:
Jordan Clark, Alex Pearce, Luke Ryan
HB: Brennan Cox, Hayden Young, Heath Chapman
C: Ethan Hughes, Will Brodie, James Aish
HF: Michael Frederick, Luke Jackson, Jaeger O’Meara
F: Lachie Schultz, Nat Fyfe, Sam Switkowski
R/Fol: Sean Darcy, Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong
Interchange from: Brandon Walker, Liam Henry, Matt Taberner, Bailey Banfield, Matthew Johnson, Josh Treacy, Sam Sturt, Nathan Wilson

Will Brodie game #50. Wild. Plays like a player who has so many more games under his belt

He truly is the reverse Michael Barlow

Now my understanding is that those named on the field will be playing unless they are withdrawn entirely. Assuming that is the case I would expect the final four to be....

If Aish is playing wing then Henry is a worse forward than Sturt. If Tabs is playing I don't expect Treacy to. Probably only one of Wilson or Walker.

Taberner, Sturt, Wilson, Banfield, Johnson (sub)

Have to play the youth. Treacy doesn’t play and Tabs, Fyfe is preferred? You’d have players looking elsewhere, especially at Treacy’s age.

We wont have three forwards on the bench (9 total) but we will have three wingers across the whole 22.

Walker Henry Taberner Banfield (Sub Sturt)
