Noble if you count the 19 midseason, alternatively, Jay Rantall is the only one delisted from the 2019 midseason, national and rookie drafts...;)
Our 1st round pick was used by Port via Brisbane to draft Georgiades. Our 1st pick wasn't until 40 (Rantall). Georgiades would have fit our needs and looks a good player. Another missed opportunity.

By the way,the final 22 team matched exactly the players who played in black at training yesterday, according to Jen.So if you want to know who’s going to be the team each week, just read Jen’s reports and see who’s wearing black at training,:)

No they shouldn't because thats a totally unrealistic view of the draft picks we had. Pick 40, only 2 of the last 10 pick 40s have played 100 games, most play very little. Pick 45, one 100 game player in the last 17 drafts and that was Fas. Pick 55 no 100 game players in the last 15 drafts, maybe Fantasia can make that 1.

If we get 1 player out of those 3 who plays 100 games for Collingwood and is a C/D grade type we will have performed well. Only a few of the kids picked in the 40s and 50s become good AFL players.
Good points. Especially considering covid disruptions. One in the team for round 1 and one having showed some promising signs last year is about the best you could hope for at this stage.

I dont mind the team out of who is available, and I dont think we had a lot of choice. Who else would you have selected? I'm missing Poults, but there must be a reason he's not in. I'm not sure the other new draftees are ready, or perhaps the coaches are holding them back so they can be 'drip fed' into the team over the next few weeks.

We are walking a fine line this year between playing experience and seniority, and raw kids. We cant have too many of the latter or we will be on the end of some absolute thrashings. Which does nobody's confidence any good.

We are also at that awkward stage of the year where there's no VFL (yet) so we cant use VFL form to influence selection.
Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard,,,, yep. pretty empty in there,,,,, Bianco, McCreery: Lucky to be named,,,, Ginnivan - meh; Magden and Noble: Meh multiplied by infinity,,,, Would have liked to have seen Poulter, McInnes, Ash (probably not ready) get a run

You can’t multiply by infinity. It’s already infinite.

I was thinking that too. It’s very similar to the side Buckley would have picked, very predictable. There’s certainly no surprises there,

I think Fly rather try Mature Agers before Kids

I have no idea why everyone thinks Kelly will be playing, wasn't close to getting a run in preseason and by all reports has been underwhelming at training. I wouldn't have him in the best 32 let alone 22. Certainly no a rap for Madgen but he's a mile in front of Kelly atm and IMO so is Wilson
Who thinks he is playing? He wasn’t training yesterday due to a bout of gastro, so even if he was in the frame, he ain’t playing.
That aside, he’s looked good in the last couple of weeks after being switched to defence, so I have to assume you’re not keeping up and are making the underwhelming call based on him training as a forward.

The numerous people who posted their predicted teams that had him at full back

HH should get the go ahead instead of Bianca up front… but probably also ahead of McReery.

McReery has done very little in the hawks and giants games… in fact his trade mark tacking has not been there since the Melbourne game last year

If he doesn’t perform this week I’d give Reef the pressure forward role… just so as to get AFL minutes into him

Well before we even take to the field I'll openly say I can't wait to see the likes of Madgen and Noble replaced.

Bianco, Brown, Ginnivan, Henry, Mccreery all with lots to prove as well before they're locks. Add Cox to that list albeit the other end of the scale.

When you dissect the team like that it's easy to see why we're expected to finish bottom 6.

Hopefully no injuries and Kreuger and Maynard in over the coming weeks.

BUT their team is pretty bad on paper. So we're a chance.

I might reassess my earlier comments re the Saints touching us up. Their midfield is powerful weak and whilst ours is too I’m confident we can hold up with Adams, Grundy, Crisp and Lipinski/ JDG v Steele, Marshall, Crouch, Gresham and Ross because I think we bat deeper on the wings.

If we can break even there we’ll at least give ourselves a chance to stop them putting 100 on the board with that defensive group. No Ryder or Sharman makes it more challenging to stretch us with height up forward.

Nobel is still Good and I think people can be too Harsh on him.

Ours is not Crash hot on Paper as well

I am going to be patient. A lot of posters here pick our team based on singular talent alone. At Wednesdays training I watched and listened to a conversation between Leppa and Sidebottom on the boundary. It was Sidey asking more about 'his role and positioning'. So, one of our most experienced players is confirming where he needs to be to play his role. Young players sometimes need a season to learn new running patterns, grids and zones. There are players I would love in the team based on my expectations of their talent but maybe they get a defensive pattern wrong or are slow to positioning. So when posters here talk about game plan remember thats a huge concept and training indicates big changes for all roles. Melbourne took five years to embrace and understand the game plan while their talent developed. Macrae needs time, the players need time, and we can watch and grow with this team. This is the starting team of a new era. Let's be positive and be supportive in '22. Go Pies!!!
