I think we're looking at a different role for Members this year, looked like he was playing high / wing and as a link man. Great use for him given his hands and he's moving well; the downside being he's our most accurate set shot.

No worries at all if he's played like that this year with Ming and Battle playing deep and RoMA doing deep stints too.
Downside is he is far to slow in making decisions and is still clearly our best marking forward.

We have genuine depth in pretty much every position now. Five genuine tall forward threats in King, Marshall, Membrey, Battle and Wood. Wood was very impressive but will have a tough time cracking in ahead of those boys.

Think Ross was also really good today, found a bit of the footy and always seemed to be around the contest.

Butler didnt get too much of the footy but for those of us who love one percenters he was huge, the amount of times he flashed on the screen chasing and harrasing and affecting a north kick was huge.

How did Bytel go today TIA

Had a great first quarter with a couple of goals and and pretty involved in the middle.

Less involved as the game went on but he never looked out of place. Lacked a little bit of composure but nothing that won't be addressed with more experience.

I would say in Crouch's absence he will play round 1, will have two weeks to secure his spot I'd guess. I am not sure if Ratts will be able to gift development games to him like he did for Coffield last year.

Pretty interesting depth to this side. Obvs just a praccy, but it looks like that 22 will be really tough to crack.
Webster looks in good touch, so you'd have to assume he replaces Paton until Geary is fit. Wood looks like the perfect depth for Battle/Members. Highmore (off preseason reports) directly replaces Wilkie. Bytel looks like Steele light. Lonie and Kent both solid Higgins/Butler stand ins. And who knows who we go with in th great Frawley-Carlisle debate, but one will be a very unlucky depth option. Only real area we lack proper depth in is starting ruck, ie a Ryder replacement, but you can't have everything. Perhaps McKernan will be enough, but I guess he's more of a Marshall stand in.
Nice spot to be in, but a weird spot to be in. We may not have the highend talent of the 04-10 era, but the players after the top 15sh are much, much better.

Wood, Lonie, Long, Webster, sinclair, Bytel and highmore all put their hand up for round 1. Can’t play them all though. Good problem to have. I am guessing McKernan presses his claim to fill in for Ro next week.

He doesn’t play close to that role. 26 played today. Probably 3 certainties didn’t. Can’t see how he plays.
He doesn’t need to play that role. Just cos he is replacing them doesn’t mean he’ll play the same role. I dare say Longy/Wilkie will cover Pato’s role which means Highmore will essentially cover Wilkie’s role.

Yeah i think Dunstan is going to find it very difficult to play senior footy this year. There's so many in front of him and even coming on with fresh legs today he had very little impact at all.
It is a good sign that the list is improving.

The watters and early richo years of drafing were pretty grim.

Was only able to watch parts if it.

Was very impressed with wood tbh, not just the 4 goals but he was moving really well and finding footy up the ground.

I was pleased to see Bytel get a couple of early goals, I think if he's going to find his way into the side he needs to be able to be dangerous forward.

Looked like a training run tbh. Not sure if we were just great or North were that awful.
