Right. I think the players mostly aren't superstars but are now at the point where, with competent coaching, we could make the lower reaches of the eight. It doesn't look like that will happen, which suggests to me we don't have competent coaching.

I actually don't blame Richo either. He should be in the last year of his contract and coaching for his life, and if he didn't make it then we let him go and that's all fair. Some coaches are good at developing sides but not good at getting them to win consistently.

Instead, we're stuck with him for the next three years. Terrible decision from Finnis, Bains, and the club.
the thing is we can't sack the guy because we have no money to get anyone else , so we have to live with it - he is a good guy though

Trolling? Did you watch the first half at all? We were inept from start to end. We would have lost by 100 to Lolnorth if the useless **** had kicked straight.

No excuses.
Not trolling at all. Sure north out played us in the first half but if we kicked straight we could have been 3 or 4 goals up as well.

We’ve been getting sliced apart by teams that use a kicking game from defence for years & still can’t defend it against a team that went at sub-70% kicking efficiency who beat us by 50+ points.

That is a structure & coaching problem
Amen brother. Frustrating to watch.

must agree , even gilberts kicking in the backline would been great compared with todays effort

That's a really tough personal/emotional thing to go thru there Saintos..........today really hurts but going thru the above really does put things into perspective.

Thanks mate

A very, very ordinary game from a skill perspective.

A very good mate of mine that is a thick and thin StKilda supporter, who had to work and missed the game, called me half hour after the game and my phone almost melted. He was livid.

All I could do is tell him his anger was well justified. You diehard folks deserve a lot better than what they served up today.

Was at the race when players walked off. Group of drunks were getting stuck into them. Kinda felt bad. Saints players looked pissed off. Horrible game. Horrible game plan. The warning signs were there in the JLT and round one. Was thinking 8-10 at start of year. Probably 16-18 at moment. Hope I'm proven wrong.
was there also and i was a bit disgusted but cant say i cant blame then for being angry, i was angry at the time too

I hope I am made to regret this...

But this club, this coach and these players are ******.

This coach couldn't any of our boys to get a root at a brothel let alone at football. He is clueless and his structures constantly get destroyed by opposing coaches. He can't see to extract an ounce of consistency other then the ability to consistently let us down. Time to go. NOW!

These players, spineless pricks the bunch of them. No run no chase no heart. All think they are ******* figjam, yet they can't even hit simple targets. Paddy, I've backed you but **** how does someone drop simple chest marks week In and out. JB another let down. Mentally soft

Any midfielder not named Acres or Steven are ******* pathetic.

******* fuming and I feel mentally done right now. Time to check out. I remember sitting there when the pelican did his power point presentation telling us our future I'll be bright. Well I tell you what our future holds? It's another ******* rebuild. It will be watching the likes of Carlton over taking us whilst we toilet away having missed the boat in 09/10 whilst Richo persists with garbage like today.

This club better have the spotlight on them and turned up to the highest settings. Because I will no longer cop it and defend them. They owe us fans so much for what we have endured. Maybe they should apologize for today.

I wish I could argue against any part of this post but I just can’t.
Die hard supporters will say that it’s an easy kill going for the coach after a loss but after todays effort and private rumblings from a playing list over the last 18 months I can comfortably say this:
We as a playing group and as a football club are going nowhere with Alan Richardson as senior coach.
There’s always chatter at clubs from some unhappy with a coach, I’ve heard it but it’s easy to dismiss. But...after our start to the season I now realise that our coach has not the abilities to implement a game style to consistently win AFL games and more concerning for me is that his message is falling on deaf ears.
I didn’t want to believe it and hoped things would come good but the first part of a team to drop away when a coach has lost his players is the hard stuff, the want to get your hands dirty, to put your body on the line for your team. Have a look at our contested footy stats for the last fortnight and it’s a terribly concerning stat.
I’m in an Uber now on the way to a late dinner and a couple of bottles of red with some St Kilda people, it’s going to be a tough night until the wine kicks in and we forget about the garbage dished up today.
I’m just a shattered man, like all supporters must be this evening.

Want a fight campaigner?

No money to get anyone else? There are a million blokes out there who are worth a try and wouldn't cost the earth. Do you think Don Pyke or Stuart Dew are on $1m a year as senior coaches? Give Sam Mitchell the job for $300k, I don't know.

But you're right that we're stuck with him now - that's because we gave him a ridiculous two year extension last year.

Just like the ridiculous extensions we gave Wright, Minchington, and Pierce the year before. These were obviously poor decisions at the time and were called out as such, like taking Paddy over Petracca. It's not hindsight, the club just ****ed up repeatedly.

Has the freckle lost the players?

Another thing... mids not tracking back? North win the ball deep inside our 50... once it's out of the heavily contested area they just run forward in numbers and move the ball with ease.

Our blokes trailing 20 metres behind the entire time.

That second term had about 4 instances where a north defender or mid pushed forward and took an uncontested mark inside 50. Last quarter it happened every few minutes.

That defensive work is not a trait of a side that is finishing outside bottom 4 at all
