He is 100% a First Order loyalist, that is an alarmingly blind comment.

It was made abundantly clear in TFA and TLJ that he was incredibly power hungry and incredibly competitive with Kylo.

Even after snoke died, Kylo treated him like shit.

Him betraying Kylo is hardly a surprise, it's quite in line with his character.

Hux appeared to have gone from almost the supreme leader to going back in the pecking order rapidly.

Whilst he was leader of the military arm of the first order in TFA, reporting to Snoke and feels entitled to Supreme Leader after the death of Snoke, in RoS he moves to reporting to ‘allegiant General Pride’ who appears to be a step behind Kylo who in turn reports to Palapatine.

He was going backwards so yeah it is believable that he was in it for Hux and Hux wasn’t doing well and it is all Kylo’s fault, so as long as Team Kylo loses Team Hux wins

He was in it for Hux within the structure of the First Order. Having him flip that dramatically in the space of the year was unbelievable and utterly destroyed what scrap of a character he had left.

So a stormtrooper can flip, help Poe escape and that's all good, base a trilogy on it. But Hux is too far fetched...

Is it because he is white?

Huh?

Finn flips at the start of the movie after showing no pre-disposition to hating the Resistance, and it was a formative part of his character.

Hux's character, his heritage, and his persona are all built around his hatred for the Republic and his embrace of the First Order ideology. He is presented in TFA as being vitriolic in his hatred of the Republic and the Resistance, and this only grows in TLJ. For him to rival Ren and want to undermine him is absolutely consistent with this, as I said, but actively aiding and boosting the Resistance by rescuing Poe and Finn is not.

What a bizarre strawman.

Enough negativity from me:

- Humour really landed with me, there weren't many jokes I didn't laugh at.
- 3POs best movie since ANH, had some fantastic moments.
- Dynamic between our Holy Trinity - I mean, uh, trio (sorry Jack) - was fantastic.
- Lando was fantastic and felt like the most consistent with his OT character from our returning cast.
- Pyre was also awesome as a First Order commander.

With Hux turning, I see it more like an enemy's enemies situation. His hatred of Ren, made him sympathetic towards Poe/Finn

Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one I think.

Lando just glossed over that whole selling Han out the empire bit though

Agreed on all points.

No, not a good film and only sporadically interesting. But I can at least find greater appreciation for the originals and even the prequels for having a singular vision and narrative now.

It made me realise how much I really do like the Prequels.

And?

She was back alive a few minutes later without a scratch on her.

Exactly why Luke shits on Rey as a well written character.
Not a scratch on her implies that she wasn’t injured. She died which is the greatest injury of all?

You’re making it seem like she skipped through every challenge with ease and unharmed. She lost the duel to Kylo before Leia intervened and was literally killed in the fight against Palpatine.

When was that referenced?
How did you do it? How did you win?

We did it together, we were all friends.

Yeah after you sold out your friends to Vader, watched your "old buddy" get frozen in carbonite and then changed your mind when Vader changed the terms of the deal....
