Stenglein to Eagles for Waters?

Now being just about as unbiased an Eagles fan on this board, I'll tell ya I rate Stenglein, I'd have him in the top 150 or so players in the league, he's what I'd call an above average player, he's not a star but a good quality player. If the Eagles were to trade for him, I'd be happy with that but I'd hope to get him for our 2nd round pick and a fringe player. On Beau Waters, if you don't really know much about him I can tell you he's very highly rated - and at this early stage of his career, he seems to be 'gun' or 'star' material - he also plays in a position and a with a style that our team needs more of. I would be shocked if the club traded him, sure go ahead and tell me 'you won't get Stinger then!!' but really, this is the Eagles (or of course Freo) we are talking about here, dealing with a club like the Crows, the right thing will be done by all parties, just wait and see.

The only player in our 22 on the weekend who I would give up for Tyson Stenglein would be Rowan Jones... and he shouldnt have even been in the 22. There is not a single player in that current playing team that I would trade for Stenglein so it will have to be a fringe player like Chambers or a draft pick. Take it or leave it Adelaide because he wants to come to us and not Freo so you don't have much choice.

anyone spot the flaw in the logic here?

anyone, anyone?

you have to ask yourself - do you honestly believe WC and Stengleins agent have not had discussions already. Do you believe he has stated he only wants to play for WC if they have said: you're no good, we don't want you, you're not in our best 22, and there's a chance the trade won't get done because we won't give anything up for you?

Grow up people, WC have obviously given him some encouragement. This will no doubt include rough contract expectations, and some sort of commitment to getting the trade done quickly. After all, WC are not collingwood, they usually get their trades done.

as for the answer to the pop quiz above, the problem is that the club has not taken to asking TP before making recruiting decisions - odd that he hasn't noticed this yet.

as for whether it involves Waters - I don't know, and neither do any of you.

Yes I would hope everyone realises that and knows the difference between a fans opinion on an internet forum and what is actually happening at the club.

Why are you taking him so seriously?, I'm not saying he's not entitled to an opinion (in this case, one you don't agree with) but really, that's all it is - an opinion.

I stand corrected but isn't that an illegal approach? i would have thought they would have to wait till some time after GF day before such an approach (at least to the manager) could be made.

think of it as an informal conversation, just sounding each other out.

think of it this way, what would you do? footy's a small tight community, and there is a lot of informal interraction on a lot of subjects.

that maybe, but i don't know if the WCE officials would be legally allowed to speak to Stenglines management on that subject what so ever until a certain period; like i said i stand totally corrected.

oh fair go, how many friggin games has Beeck played??? its like comparing apples with oranges...one is an established AFL player the other is an up and comer....

How many games had Mark Seaby played prior to this year?

None.

Now he's a regular in the 22 and playing some great footy.

We're haemorraging ruckman at the moment, i'm sure there's an Adelaide / Kangas / Saints ready to take one off our hands.

love the subjective information there - Gerald healy thought they looked like a close knit group from one dinner outing ??

LOVES WA what you know they guy and he has said this to you personally or did you just read it in a newspaper somewhere?

Kane Johnson is still in contact with most of the crows players he played with
they were tight knit but he still went home

and yes you will take stenglien no questions about that

not even getting into Wirrpunda enough trolling last time!!

Before the draft Waters had said he wanted to move out of adelaide to experience the whole thing of moving meeting new people and teammates. He also said on the news that next year him and Butler are thinking of getting a place together coz they have become good mates and love it here in perth

And then what?

Not that it matters. We all know only there will only be one of two outcomes. Stinger to WC or stay at Adelaide. I'd say him going to Fremantle is perhaps an outside chance too.

Comments like the above are just getting ridiculous.

****

No more ridiculous than Adelaide forcing him into the pre-season draft.

I always think that any player that will ONLY go to one club should be traded to anyone but that club, and if they won't go then force them into the draft.

Why give an opponent a leg up with a cushy trade by buckling to whingy player demands.

Zach Beek - you toasters (apologies package) have to be kidding he would be anymore than a side-sweetner to any major trade deal.

I wonder if these thoughts will be mirrored when Josh Carr puts his request in to be traded by Port Adelaide.

but...whilst we are on the subject of midfields... there is one guy who might end up starting in the centre on Saturday night and ripping Sydney a new arseh*le.. and it will be a guy they have not have thought of... his name is not Judd, Kerr, Fletcher, Cousins, Embley or Braun. He is young and they have played him in the middle in spurts this year and he has looked absolute class.... but Worsfold has moved him back into the forward line so that he doesn't grab too many opposition coaches attention. An identical thing was done in 1990 with a certain Chris Lewis who was unleashed in the middle in the finals and dominated..... and yes this player does strike a resemblence ;) Just remember where you heard it first

Well done.

Now every coach in the AFL knows. ;)

Spot on. Well said.

I have mentioned this on our site. I believe that Tyson will be a requirement as the WCE are looking to draft agressively for a KPP(cHF). This will only be achieved by giving quality like a Fletch, Braun or Kerr. So Steinglen becomes a very valuable pick up.

So now we are giving up Fletch or Kerr as well as Waters. This just gets better.

Kerr is one of the fittest, most couragous and skillfull young midfielders going around. Adelaide have nothing in the way of players or draft picks that would come close to snaring him.

Look if we get Carr on the cheap I'd love it - but I don't think it would happen and I don't think Port would buckle, and nor do I think they should.

We may go after him but we certainly wouldnt be offering Waters. Maybe a draft pick and a fringe player or just a draft pick. He isnt that good.

You wouldn't have a clue what West Coast will do. Neither do I.

They may rate him, they may not. Whether you or I rate him is beside the point.

Its all just a lot of hot air so far.
