Swans intra-club match

3 opponents in one quarter? I read into that as him being loose and those three were the ones who tried to get to him and defend. Correct me if Im wrong.

LOL @ how starved of footy we are, the real stuff is still a month away! Do feel for the Vic fans who don't even get a practice match this year.

The highlights are still great to watch. That tackle was huge and Jack was grinning like a madman. He enjoyed that a lot more than Buddy (though he took it well).

Thought Cunningham looked fantastic. His speed gives him so much time to compose himself. Hope he gets a few more games this year.

JohnG asked the question earlier in the thread, Did Nankervis kick those three quick goals in a row in the same quarter on Reg or someone else? Or was he just left loose?

he kicked two on Reg and one on Aliir. He did play on Lockyer but kicked a point on him. Jordie was only on him for a millisecond as the coaches saw him outmark the kid at HF like he was not even there. He set up a goal then and they moved Jordie and put Reg on him. He kicked two in a hurry on Reg and then Aliir went to him.

Sorry banjo, I didn't realise the Swans had taken it down from SwansTV.

Thanks, pretty in depth analysis you must have watched close even if I watched the game I don't think Id take that much in, great stuff.

Gee what a surprise.

Gee what a surprise.

You obviously don't have a great deal of approval of Reg. Funnily enough I had a conversation with a fan of another footy club and he seemed to think that Reg was the thorn in our defence. He thinks Reg coughs the ball up too easily, I agree.

For those that have seen the game (I can't seem to access the full replay, only the highlights) what were your thoughts on Membrey?

I didn't seem to see as much as some of the other guys seem to take in, but I didn't see him do much tbh. I'm not sure if it was just the fact that he wasn't getting to the right spots, or if he was being ignored by his team mates, but he just didn't seem to get many opportunities. I only noticed him a couple of times, and it was usually him around the play without actually getting involved. In saying that, I left during the 4th qtr and was down in one of the pockets so may have missed some of his work on the eastern side.

Hope he has a good run during the NAB

Thanks GTS.

I'm interested to see how he goes, cause with the Swans' stacked forward line he's one that might really struggle to get senior games unless there are a lot of injuries, and he doesn't seem to be the type that is likely to play on a wing or through the middle.

I've also heard reports from friends that have seen him play that he has all the attributes of a good AFL footballer except pace, which might be okay if he were 194cm, but he is 188. The sort of guy that will dominate at VFL/WAFL/SANFL level but maybe not quite make it at the top level.

The only thing I remember him doing was a little snap pretty much in front of goal. Think it was in the first quarter, but I didn't see much of him after that. I remember him appearing frustrated after a team mate didn't pass to him when he was in a good position and instead chose to kick long and wasted the ball.

From what I saw in the intra match, he's behind the other players (in terms of the impact he had). Our talls are well documented, but then we've got smalls like Rohan, BJ, McGlynn who have the speed and tenacity and get involved in the play and cam have a real impact.

Like you said, Membrey isn't KP height, but doesn't have the attributes required in a small forward to complement the talls in the side. SO he's kind of stuck in the middle with more suitable options at both ends of the scale.

His performance seems to match the media reports that he's still some way off a debut and has aspects of his game he has to work on.

I hope he really has a crack during the NAB and gives the coaches something to think about. But yeah, injuries may be his only chance, with the talent we have in the forward line, and Horse's use of mids as forward options, there really isn't much room for error on Membrey's part. Hope he plays a blinder

Can't quite remember who played on him? Think Rampe was on him at stages. He got on the end of one, possibly kicked a second. Anyway, went right out of it in the second half and was overshadowed by strong performances from a lot of new guys. On the whole, he was pretty quiet I reckon.

I'm a big fan of his so hopefully he gets another chance in the NAB Challenge.

bit disappointed with Membrey so far TBH. i was extremely happy when we picked him up. i can just picture him wasting his time in Sydney and then getting picked up cheap by someone like the Dees or Bombers and really having an impact. hope im wrong and he pulls it all together.
