If you're suggesting it was a magnanimous decision for him to step aside so that one of the rookies could play, then fair enough. I just wanted to know the reason. He did play the majority of the season for them.

Sad to see him not even play the last game..

Oh, just something I remembered, I think Josh Bruce is going to be a top up for us next year.

HA HA OMG THEY ARE AWESOME I LOVE THEM THANKS SO MUCH FOR THEM!

Heres a few snaps from me

Given that the senior reserves like Fosdike, Davis, Grundy, Brennan were all unavailable I thought an experienced head like Benny would have been more than handy. However, the young boys showed they didn't need him, so everyone's happy!

Wow!! Im still standing and applauding your boys for the tremendous result yesterday. As much as I dislike Belconnen it was a GF that had everything in their favour. No Mathews, Fosdike, Brennan and Grundy and for the majority of the game you looked 2nd best but Belconnen kept you in the game thankfully with in-accurate kicking.

You should be extremely proud of the young playing group who's belief and will to win got them over the line in a game they never looked like winning until midway thru the last term. Suddenly unsighted players were bobbing up everywhere and when the game was in the balance your inexperienced team which had 8 players that had played a total of 15 AFL Canberra games between them (including 6 local players from from Tuggeranong with 2 x 16 YO and 1 x 17 YO) stood up and snatched vicory from the jaws of defeat. Well done to the other side from NSW...You sent this ex Queanbeyan player home with a big smile on his face!!:thumbsu:

And here u were A Bit High writting us off

The most amazing thing was we kept at it we just put our heads down and went all out we dominated the whole game just didnt get on the score board when we really needed it but in the end we kicked the goals that won us the game!

Frees against us was shocking once again they are a little soft to canberra teams!

Gosh im still so pumped from the win! Omg running onto the feild after the win was amazing! Im so happy!

Me thinks your one eyed view is showing here. Your boys looked indecisive early and had slow ball movement and I also dont really think the umpires played much of a role. Yes there were some strange ones but that is football.

Yes I did write you off as I couldn't see where the victory would come from and then when I saw the team sheet I thought it could be a blow out. I'm very happy to admit I was wrong!

But lets be real honest, 7-12 to 6-2 at 3/4 time tells a tale in its self. 19 scoring shots to 8 the game should have been out of reach.

Im glad it wasn't because you have no idea how much I dislike Belconnen!!

Smith likely BBB ?

Not seen much of him due to Kalamatta duty

I've had a man crush for a while Duds.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that they'll find a spot on the list for him next year.

A couple of more pre-seasons to build up his body, he already has a great tank, plus work on his skills and he'll slot in beautifully when Kirky and Jude retire.

IMHO, fast forward 3 or 4 years and Bird and Smith will be in our engine room farming it out to McVeigh, Vespremi, Jack and whatever outside midfielder we can find in the next couple of seasons.

I'm excited anyway :p

Don't take it personal ABH, Soph is excited (not that there's anything wrong with that :thumbsu:).

I for one would like to thank you for your input to this thread during the season. A balanced view from an outsider who also knows the other teams strengths and weaknesses was most helpful.

Cheers and hope to see you here again in the 'Swans Reserves 2009 Season Thread'

Ok im a little one sided but come on we really buckled down and applied the pressure

Belconnen had their chances...i would like 2 think that our Booing was the cause of this! I have a raging sore throat because everytime they kicked for goal all you could here was "TANK IT YOU CANT KICK STRAIGHT HIT THE FAT POST MISS IT BOOOOOOOOO!" and it worked

They proved everyone wrong once again and i am so proud of them

Dont worry I heard you as I was doing the commentary for Channel Vision. I also heard you while i was doing the running for the Qbn Reserves...Great support from all the Swans fans and I hope you noticed that you had the support of every other side in the comp outside of Belconnen:D

Sorry for my ignorance but the few times I saw them I never got close enough to see faces & several look aliketo me.... who deputised as captain? or is holding trophy^

Benny Matthews on turps with seniors understandable!!!But Fosdike as well:eek:... doesn't auger well for his future... maybe he is trade or delist?
Any goss about that?

If it was another but Belconnen, I would feel sorry for the opposition. With that many outs it does reinforce the gap between young gun professionals and older amateur/semi pros

Well done ressies!:thumbsu:
