an amputee. how in the word does he kick 9 goals. the guy is useless. has terrible skills and decision making. liablity on the field
brennan, along with springs have to be some of the worst pick ups in the last decades of recycling players

thats the prob with our reserve league, its very hard to judge, but you couldnt ask much more from him, I was just interested anyway about his opposition

It's not a good time for Davis to get injured (Assumed) as the current forward line is functioning quite well and Brennen kicking 9 today. The longer this run in the seconds goes on for nick the more chance he could be traded out of the club come the end of the season.

on positive news Vez and Jake in the best players is very good.

yeah cant wait to see vez get a run in the firsts, he'd probs be a bit down on the list of players pushing for a spot due to injury but would be good if he could get a run before the years out.
with orreal its a wait and see process, from his past sporting achievement looks to have athletic talent so hopefully he can step it up in the years to come.

I'd be really surprised if he does get a run this year. His stamina leaves much to be desired.

Final Score was -

Sydney 26 - 13 - 169
Qbn 15 - 14 - 104

Saw the game and would say the best players on the ground were as follows - Brabazon, Brennan, Grundy, Faulks, Schmidt, Matthews and Vespremi.........

Sorry guys but I didnt think Orreal did much at all, not sure what the person picking the best saw but he was probably beaten on the day. Does some nice tap work but thats pretty much all that was done, dont recall seeing a mark from the lad all day, let alone a disposal by foot.

Brennan kicked 9 and was a constant threat, didnt miss many at all. Got some excellent bullet like passes that no defender could stop.

Brabazon got plenty of ball out of the middle. His work rate with 1, 2 and sometimes 3 efforts was outstanding.

Brundy must have taken a dozen marks at CHF. Probably had 3 opponents during the course of the day.

Vespremi had a livewire of a first half when he kicked all his goals. Set the Swans alight.

Faulks did a great job on last seasons 100+ goals FF Mark Armstrong.

Schmidt and Matthews got plenty of the ball and the use of it was the major difference between the 2 sides.

Qbn were well below full strentgh but came out the blocks to kick the first 4 goals of the match and actually kicked 6-7 in the first term. But they allowed the Swans to get 3 late goals in time on to only take a 10 point lead into the first change. After that it was all Sydney...Very skillfull, hard running and very impressive without some key players such as Davis, Fosdike, Everett etc...

Wont win the flag but I believe they will be in the GF.

Sorry about the radio info, was unaware you couldnt get the feed up in Sydney.

Faulks did a great job on last seasons 100+ goals FF Mark Armstrong.

Without actually checking the websites report each week, I reckon Faulks has been mentioned in the best players more so than anyone else this year.

I have only seen his one NAB cup game so don't have much to go on. I get the feeling that alot of posters here don't rate him (or just don't talk about him). Does anyone think he could replace Leo in the future?? Has he improved considerably from last year?

Thanks for the report A Bit High, very much appreciated.

I think the best list is controlled by the club. They probably judge the players' performance based on what is expected of them. While on an absolute scale, perhaps Orreal didn't do much, he may have exceeded what was put forward by the coaches before the match.

Wow, to kick 9 goals is one thing, but to say he possesses Eski-like bullet passes is beginning to stretch the imagination. I'll have to keep a close eye on him on Satdee.

It's a make or break season for Ryan. Hopefully he plays more games like this

Brundy must have taken a dozen marks at CHF. Probably had 3 opponents during the course of the day.
Yep, sounds like Reggie all right. Is just too strong for most of the AFL Canberra defenders. Can't see him breaking into the seniors. He's basically up against Playfair and I think Henry does better work off the ball than Reg.
Vespremi had a livewire of a first half when he kicked all his goals. Set the Swans alight.
Hopefully a full pre-season can get his fitness to a solid level. Sounds like a real gem.
Faulks did a great job on last seasons 100+ goals FF Mark Armstrong.
He's really come a long way. There were unsubstantiated rumours that he was having off-field issues and may have been delisted last year, but if he can develop into a KP defender to replace Leo in the next few years, than the Swans would have pulled off another steal with a late draft pick.
Schmidt and Matthews got plenty of the ball and the use of it was the major difference between the 2 sides.
Good, we need depth in the midfield going into the finals.

Who selects the best players?

He has been in the best 8 times in the last 9 games. I can't recall a reserves player rating so consistently.

I don't see him being promoted until he puts on a bit more weight but he is looking good at this stage of his development.

I've watched 3 full ressies games this year and I can't say that i've ever even noticed Faulks.. it's probably because I don't pay all that much attention to anyone who isn't Beanie but I do notice others who are playing well.. so who knows.

Swans Too Strong For Depleted Tigers

An injury-hit Queanbeyan Tigers outfit were not strong enough to beat the inform Swans’ Reserves at Queanbeyan on Sunday.

The Swans started slowly and after a quarter riddled with mistakes the tables turned once Luke Brennan was moved from centre half back to full forward.

Brennan was the Swans’ best, taking 18 marks and kicking nine goals in just three quarters of footy. First year player, Patrick Veszpremi was also impressive in his second game back from a groin injury, kicking five.

Peter Faulks played well at fullback and Heath Grundy kicked three goals from centre half forward while Jake Orreal dominated in the ruck. Ben Mathews played a tough game and was a strong leader throughout the day.

After a disappointing first quarter the Swans were behind by ten points. Queanbeyan kicked six goals for the term while the Swans only managed five. The goal kickers for the quarter were Veszpremi who got two,
Grundy, Aaron Bruce and top-up player Nathan Smith.

The Swans pace picked up dramatically after the first break and in the second quarter the Swans kicked seven goals, only allowing Queanbeyan to kick one. Brennan kicked three for the quarter while Vezspremi kicked another two. Brett Meredith and Grundy also kicked goals for the Swans to put them in front by 27-points at half time.

Brennan kicked another three goals in the third term and by three quarter time the Swans had extended their lead to 50-points. Grundy kicked his third goal for the game and Matthew O’Dwyer and top-up player Scott Newhouse also goaled.

In the last term the Swans again kicked six goals while Queanbeyan added four to their score. For the third time Brennan kicked three goals for the quarter and goals from Veszpremi, Nick Smith, O’Dwyer and top-up player Blake Harlock brought the Swans to the final winning margin of 65-points.
Next week the Swans Reserves meet Belconnen who sit two games clear of the Swans on the top of the ladder. The game is on Saturday 5 July at 3.50pm at ANZ Stadium and is the curtain raiser for the Swans and Collingwood game.

Final Score:
Swans Reserves: 5.3 (33) 12.7 (79) 18.10 (128) 26.13 (169)
Queanbeyan: 6.7 (43) 7.10 (52) 11.12 (78) 15.14 (104)

Goals:
Brennan 9; Veszpremi 5; Grundy 3; O’Dwyer 2; Meredith, Harlock, Newhouse, Schmidt, Nick Smith, Nathan Smith, Bruce.

Best:
Brennan, Faulks, Grundy, Mathews, Orreal, Veszpremi

Get Brennan in the Forward Line immediately.

The Swans are playing the hawks in afew weeks, i would love to see Brennan play and kick 5 goals. The looks on Hawks fans faces would be priceless :D

He was on the end of some bullet like passes, not executed them himself.

since you have found one
inform me where brennan's qualities as a footballer can be found?

As for tintin, Brennan is very tough, reasonably quick, is possibly the second best overhead mark in the club behind O'Keefe and he's actual decision making is quite adequate. He just struggles with terrible footskills and that alone will probably always inhibit his career.

He's a long way from the "worst pick ups in the last decades of recycling players".

I'm guessing your 'springs' is actually Spriggs and if you leave Chambers out of any discussion about worst players picked up then your credibility is shot.

If he can improve his kicking (and by the sounds of it he has) then those qualities you just mentioned could come in very handy as a forward. Im all for trying players in different positions (Craig Bolton started as a Forward i think). If one position doesnt work then the coach should try another and see how that goes. Next game Brennan plays in Paul Roos should stick him in the forward line for half the game and see what happens.

Brennan has spent a lot of time up forward, he played up forward a lot last year in the 2's when he came back from injury with no pre-season under his belt.

The spell up forward is not a revelation, been there, done that.

Thanks TripleB.

Now if you could only help me find out why some sportingpulse captilises some players' names and not others.
Who ever enters the registrations of players on sportingpulse can enter them either way and thats the way they stay for the rest of that season. It does look silly though.
