Sydney 4th on ladder - can they stay there?

The Kanga's are an abysmal team, who on paper should be wooden spoon certainties.
Westcoast put in an absolute shocker to gift them their 1st, and maybe only, win.

If we cant beat them, then we dont deserve to be top 8, let alone top 4.

You could quite possible be the biggest flog on bigfooty.
Seriously. You put North down at every opporunity!

Did you watch the North game at the weekend?
I sure did, and if i take my NMFC supporter hat off, and look at it from a neutral point of view, it was an impressive performance.

I honestly believe we can, and will win this week.

I have found Sydney fans to be quite reasonable and easy to talk to, but geez you are seriously bitter.

This thread is embarrasing to read from my perspective. Sorry guys.

Why? Because it's suggesting that the Swans may surprise everyone this year?

Or suggesting some early wins may set the team up well to do better than expected?

The Kangaroos sledging is predictable but I think it's fair to ask the supporters of other teams if they have seen enough of the "new look" Swans to revise their bottom-8 pre-season judgements.

Originally, it was decent. Getting other peoples opinions on where the swans are at, but mainly because we are over-reacting and it's embarrasing to watch when its obvious no one really cares. This thread has been propped up by swans supporters since like page 1.

I saw a mistake riddled game, with West coast turning the ball over continuously mostly whilst under little pressure.

And, FWIW, check my posting history. Ive not bagged North for ages.

What a shock. A Swans thread inhabited by Swans supporters.

If you are insecure enough that you crave opposition supporters to like your team, then so be it. Perhaps consider keeping it to yourself.

Realistically, a top 6 finish and a home final would be a superb season.

If you include pre-season form, our two losses were to St. Kilda by a combined total of 9 points!! The rest we've beaten comfortably. Once we get our forward structure right (3 talls in Goodes, Bradshaw and White still gelling), i believe that a top 6 finish is a realistic goal.

It is the ONLY dedicated swans thread for weeks. We are the least cared about club in the afl, no-one starts threads on us or bumps threads about us. Jesus!

I didn't see North's game on the weekend but am expecting a win solely on the basis that we've hit good form. Swans by 10 goals.

Correct. Have a look at the main board or the bay, and it's all "Pies this, Pies that" and "Crowbots v Port Failade" etc etc. We as Swans' supporters shouldn't feel guilty about the odd Swans' thread.

If "we turn up to play" (god I hate that cliche!) I think we'll beat North, but they are by no means an "abysmal" team, as someone else said. They were terrible against Saints, but they won't be the only team to be floogged by them this year, even without Riewoldt.

I don't believe their 2 wins have shown a great deal, the loss showed more against a fit and firing Stkilda. If the swans can beat some of the other contenders like the cats, dogs and pies only then will I be convinced swans are a real top 4 team. Really is too early to tell, is a long season:)

Absolutely agree with this. Reality could kick in for us soon enough.

of coarse, I don't like how the media are rating us too highly after the past three rounds, yes we nearly bet the saints, but the crows and tigers arent going to well atm, so no real measuring stick. Rounds 6-10 we play Lions (SCG), Cats (Kardinia), Dogs (Manuka), Dockers (SCG) and Hawks (MCG) respectively, we win all them, then I'll jump on the premiership express :D

To be honest, the Tigers and Crows were both woeful and probably made us look better than we are....and even though the Saints game was close on the scoreboard, it mostly felt like they were in control and going to win (apart form the first 10 minutes).

We are still a fair way off being an elite team, though there are obviously encouraging signs. To make top 4 though, we would have to finish higher than three of St. Kilda, Geelong, Bulldogs, Pies, Hawks and Lions, and we aren't better than any of those teams. Stranger things have happened, but as I'm sober writing this, it seems somewhat unlikely.

I'd be stoked to finish anywhere in the top 8 and get to play a finals game and be nervous as hell about it.

I think the Swannies will finish 5-7. Not top 4 this year but in coming years, yes. We have a lot of depth and got some real young guns (Rohan, Jetta, Hannerbury, Dennis-Lane). If we can go 4-1 wen we vs Geelong at Skilled and then maybe win we are a good chance at a top 4 spot.

You're right that we need to win some of the tough games - like the Cats at Skilled. No more of these "honourable" losses by less than a goal to the Saints. The last run to the Premiership was marked by beating teams like the Lions at the Gabba (then going down to the Tigers or Blues at home).

If, and it's a big ask, we don't just beat our midfield bogeys like the Pies and Crows but also the competition leaders like the Doggies, Cats and Saints then we're a genuine Top 4 - but that's true of any team. It's just that we have a glimpse that we might be able to give it a shake.

I bet if we have a comfortable win over North, there will be still people saying "They havent played anyone decent yet".

That's true. If we thrashed the Cats at Skilled the headlines would be "The Cats are fading - as we said they would".

Fades out in pleasant daydream of win at Skilled . . . .

We've a good age range on every line - and some potential in reserve. The window is opening sooner than expected and but the breeze is still a whisper.
