Sydney fans boo Matthew Lloyd speech

What rubbish. We don't even boo buckley. And he plays for ****ing collingwood.

I particularly noted the game where Kelly was booed because I think it was actually the first time I'd ever heard the man booed. But don't let me get in the way of your jingoism. Could use a pair of those blinkers myself. Might've helped me avoid seeing all those Swans clangers on Sat night. :D

Not sure why people were booing - frustration I guess.

Pretty silly really - came down to McVeigh's lucky assed left footer sneaking thru & Bucky's less lucky arsed right footer scraping back of the post. That's footy - as the philosopher Daniher would say "sometimes footy sux".

Good luck to the Bombers - they probably wanted it more than us anyway.

About time they showed some passion. The last few years I've been up there the majority of the crowd is there to socialise. Rubbish atmosphere.
I'll have to agree M29. I'm an Essendon fanatic but I go to a lot of SCG games. In the late 1990s the ground was a cauldron, but these days it's usually very quiet - especially the 1pm Sunday games. The renovation work on the hill has only made it worse this year.
If Essendon getting a few dicey decisions results in the Sydney crowds re-discovering their passion and turning the SCG and Homebush into a noisy cauldron atmosphere, then despite their loss last night the Swans will benefit in the long term.

Accepting the trophy for their game tonight, Lloyd is booed incessantly by the Sydney fans during his speech. For a second, I felt sorry for the Swans, being done over by the umpires. Now I couldn't care less. An uneducated, childish crowd. And this is coming from an AAMI Stadium regular :p

Poor form.

Fremantle supporters coped a lot of criticism for a similar incident at last years Derby, Sydney fans should also come under microscope...after all fair is fair?

good post, couldnt agree more, finally a sydney supporter with some brains....

to all those fans that think the umpires gave us the game i think you should watch the game again, the dons should have put you away many times, we deserved the win a hell of a lot more then your mob and we got the win... the umpire decision with mcphee wasnt the deciding factor, imo we would have won anyway. i mean the bombers obviously thought they had the match won being 14 points up in a low scoring game with 4 minutes left (judging by the celebration after the mcveigh goal), they dropped off and sydney capitalised... hypothetically lets say mcphee's ball was called out, does that mean the swans would have definately won? hell no, we were up by 8 points with like 4 minutes left it was in our forward 50, and if that goal wasnt scored there would have been no dropping off from the bombers. imo we would have won anyway but i guess we will never know.

this is two weeks that everyone has been saying the umpired gave us the win and thats a disgrace. against richmond we won, maybe didnt play as well as we should have but we won, the umpire decision was fine (richo free kick and the 50 both how ruled as the rules say they should be).... this week we were obviously the better team on the night, played better footy for 80% of the match, and then one shity umpire call happens and everyone says they gave us the game.....

why cant people just pay respect were it is due???

The Sydney crowd should take their anger to the AFL commission as 2 boundary umps is not enough and has not been for years .
Lloyd and the Bombers are not to blame , nor are the umpires .

Neither team deserve any respect for the woeful standard of last night's game. The Swans didn't deserve to win but neither did the Bombers.

But this thread is ridiculous. It's not as if the umpires were clapped off then the Swans fans directed their fury at Lllllloyd. At the end of the game the crowd was irrate and it was letting the AFL and its umpires know it.

as a supporter of ANY team, wouldn't you have been frustrated with the game last night? the clangers and the umpiring was just fuel and as a sydney supporter, losing by 1 point is devastating... deja vu...

booing was just a way to vent... it wasn't about showing disrespect to lloyd at all, the booind didn't stop from the time the siren went. just pure frustration

Are you kidding?

You come across as a really sore loser saying something like that.

The Bombers played an excellent game ... against massive odds ... and clearly deserved their win. Should have won by a lot more too. Get over it.

I've been going to the footy regularly since 1997, been going week-in-week-out since 2002. We've only ever boo'ed 2 players who didn't do something dirty during the game. Wayne Carey because he was too damn good, and Stephen Milne shortly after the rape allegations. But let's not let facts get in the way here.

The booing, just to be clear, was for the umps and the result. Not for the Dons. They deserved the win, ugly as it was.

They might have to change the name of the award to the Marn CROOK trophy.

Do not care, we got the 4 points and thats all that matters. People will say we were gifted the 4 points but we were up by 8 at that time and could of kicked a goal from the stoppage anyway.

im proud of the way the bombers played last night, i think we had a hell of a lot less clangers then the bombers. i know in the 3rd quarter the clangers were syd 14- to essendon 4. it was the swans who had the most clangers... we only really turned the ball over a lot when we went forward which was because lloyd and lucas were off their game last night... the bombers did deserve to win.. and i realise the umpires was very poor and good on sydney for abusing them but it wasnt just abusing them. for example watch the last four minutes. the crowd was silent then james hird got the ball in the back pocket and startign booing bloody loud. why the hell would they boo james hird, of all the players that you should show some respect to he is one of the top... there was disrespect being placed on people who dont deserve it although it was dominantly rightfully placed at the umpires... that was the main thing i was annoyed at, not lloyds speach but the fact that hird was getting boo's...

i was frustrated with the flooding, however i dont see why you should be frustrated at that your side has been doing it for years and as aker said it was mostly started by ross lyon at your club... no offence but thats my opinion... also the poor skills were due to the slippery surface of the ball and also the immense pressure, both sides should be praised for the pressure on the opposition..

I've got to say I'm actually happy that they booed at the end. Not because I like to see bad sportsmanship etc. But because I'm happy to see a Sydney crowd give a **** about their footy. It's a pssionate display showing that these so called "bandwagoners" care about the team and the result enough to do it.

Apparently on Bigfooty the only supporters allowed the luxury of being passionate are you know the pricktorian teams. The rest of us are nuff nuffs who are bandwagoners and don't give a **** about footy.

Sums up how ignorant most pricktorians are.
