Any news on Dylan Stephens. Just looking at stats, he didn't exactly carve it up on the weekend.

Think he had played a game the day before - similar to when Hately played against us last year.

I said pick 6 in that post you quoted - how did port get pick 6 - it was with less than what we could have offered
So picks 11, 23, 30 & 49 with Froe's 3rd rounder coming back.
Virtually 2 first round picks + early second round. The 49 cancels itself out with Froe's 3rd rounder.
Hell of a price to pay to gamble on pick 6.
Good luck to them. The gamble MAY have payed off. Too early to tell.
Get some perspective. No point whinging once the horse has bolted.

get some perspective!!!???..I would have delivered picks 8 & 16 (better than that you just listed that port gave up for pick 6) to Fremantle faster than you could blink. You realise we would right now - even if we could not have traded up past pick 6, have had one of Rozee or Ben king in our side. Some of us were absolutely filthy with the club that they failed to trade inside that top 7 with the plethora of picks we had before draft night and they say hindsight is 20/20 - well a few of us look like we had pretty decent vision back them

Hmmmmmm................ move up 2 spots for pick 16.......
Sounds like gambling to me.
There are no sure things in the draft. We lucked out. It could easily of worked out for the better. You cant blame the club for what they did.

Oh yes I can.

In a superdraft year where it was universally recognized there was an elite top 7 and a drop off to the next group - this was recognized by just about every draft watcher and the clubs themselves - and we sat just outside that with 3 x 1st round picks and a very low 2nd and did nothing whilst the noisy neighbours down the road stole in and made out like bandits getting inside that top 7 from a lot further back than we were positioned. cmon, it was one of the worst drafts periods for us in years and years for what could have been

Garbage, it's always hindsight.

I think some here have an overstated view of their own abilities.

Life's easy when there is no consequences

We've been linked to George Hewett now it seems.

onya champ...so the club's own list managers had no idea of the top end talent in that draft eh.

"We think that we'll be able to get a potentially elite player in that top six," new Saints list manager James Gallagher explained to AAP.

“We made it clear that we didn’t move up the draft order just to secure a local South Australian, but that a player of Connor’s class was still available at pick 5 made it a very easy decision for us. The fact that he is a local South Australian is just a bonus,” said Parker.

"It would have to be pretty extraordinary," Cameron told AAP.

"We'd be crazy not to listen to opportunities but with three selections in the top six it's pretty hard to imagine why we'd want to move any of those.

"The first seven or eight players in this draft are pretty good, so our ability to walk away with three of them is pretty appealing to us."

Clubs have spoken on the record, including St Kilda list manager James Gallagher, about seeing a real gap between the top handful of picks and the latter inside the first half.

“Without being disparaging at all, we do see there being a bit of a difference between a Pick 4 or 5 or 6, and a Pick 8,” Gallagher told the Road to the Draft podcast.
