If you look at the Tasmanian leaf-toed gecko, it already has the club colours which may make it a great fit :
The Tassie Geckos has a ring to it, I like it.

Both. There is not enough talent, which in turn dilutes the product.
Based on watching some absolutely shocking games. More teams will see this increase.
This should have happened 30 years or more ago. It is too late now. Terrible administration by the AFL of the Tasmanian leagues, coupled with the destruction of school sport by Tasmania's education department in the late eighties have left a desert in an area that was once a stronghold of local football.
The insane demand for a new stadium for the team, when there exist two already, at a time of urgent need in housing and health has alienated the non football population, and left many football followers with a negative view on the new team. McLaughlin has set this up for failure.
Most EPL players are English / European and are used to cold, dreary winters.
Liverpool and Man U can also spend whatever they want on players whereas Tasmania will be restricted by the salary cap.
Finally, Manchester and Liverpool are medium / large cities with real nightlife.
Therefore your comparison of these cities (and their football clubs) to Hobart is naive at best.
Can you remind me of when this magical mythical time in the history of the VFL/AFL was were there wasnt a handful of teams at the bottom of the ladder getting thrashings? everyone keeps alluding to it, but for the life of me I have no memory of it.

- Most of the AFL players are Victorians and are used to cold, dreary winters (Melbourne/Geelong/Hobart not all that different in terms of climate)
- Liverpool, Man U and Man City can spend as much as what they want on players as can Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, A.S. Roma, PSG etc. (some leagues have salary caps but this does not prevent them from spending around the same as PL clubs)
- Manchester and Liverpool have an OK nightlife and nothing to do outside of there. Average salaries in these cities are very low compared to London and as such most youth choose to leave to chase a better life for themselves. Young blokes in Tassie can go out to bars and clubs, eat at world class restaurants, see some of the most beautiful sights in Australia and enjoy hiking, surfing etc.
My one annual interaction with you is complete and it's only May, fantastic. Look forward to replying to your obvious bait (or plainly stupid) trolling attempts in the new year mate.
You don't remember the 80s? The 'Perfect' time for football.
Every club was competitive. 20 goals vs 22 goals was the norm. Finals came down to %. Single games came down to the way the wind was blowing in the last qtr.
Certainly weren't any 60, 80, 100+ point beltings back in the 12 team comp. No sir!
Exactly it's the animal as a mascot, not the devil.Tasmanian devil - Wikipedia

A Tasmanian Devil is a carnivorous marsupial, native to the island of Tasmania.
Nothing to do with the concept of Demons or a singular 'Devil' as suggested in biblical texts.
The more you know!

They don't want a stadium. They want a team90% of the people don't even want a team down here. The majority of comments are negative. The stadium will hardly ever be filled to capacity. Telling you right now, it's going to fail miserably.
Same with the Lions, also fishing is popular. Both things that can be done in Tasmania.I know a lot of North players just play Golf in their free time.

Maybe more like 95%Solid stats…

Get used to more.I forgot shocking games were a new invention and there were none when there was 14 teams in the good old days.
And look at how successful the new name, JackJumpers, has been.
It shows you how a marketing department can hit it out of the park, when they think outside the box and can appeal to the younger generation. "Devils", I'm sorry, is tragically boring. It's almost as if you've given up trying to come up with something and named the team after what Bob from Kmart wants.
I repeat, what the point even having a bloody marketing department if such a predictable boring name is used?
I have seen numerous polls with the question "do you want a Tasmanian team in the afl?" every single poll has been at least 70% no. Thousands of votes.Maybe see what people think outside your half dozen mates
