It would be good if FOX was given Exclusive Rights. There would be 8-10 channels all showing different sports LIVE. Then another with all the News, results etc. Would be fantastic. Screw the Commercial channels, they serve up shit. Fork out, and get quality.

They'd be doing what the BBC are doing and have 1 channel for the Aussies and then about 6 more channels on active with different other stuff. And BBC are FTA! Why can't 7 do that?

PS - Is there any video/audio streaming which I can get a link to at all - like ABC Grandstand or something???

I just checked the 2GB link but they weren't broadcasting on the net. But 5AA were, they were taking 2GB's feed. Go figure.

This link lets you listen to most radio stations in the 6 capital cities and Canberra. Just pick a city and then a radio station and you get streaming audio from that station. Also there is a link the radio station you chose, home page.

Blame Rudd.

Just send him an email. One think we know of Rudd is if he thinks it will get him votes he will be happy to get it changed**.

**Well he will say he will get it changed. He'll then hold 10 committees and a couple of enquiries then decide not to.

7 absolutely would be showing multichannels if they were legally allowed to.

It is the governments fault.

They have been allowed to multi channel since 1 January 2007. From then Minister for Communications Sentar Coonan's press release on 13/7/6. The link no longer works but I have posted the following on Big Footy before.

http://www.minister.dcita.gov.au/media/media_releases/new_media_framework_for_australia

Multichannelling

Commercial Free to Air Television

The Government will:

· legislate to enable commercial free to air television broadcasters to provide one standard definition (SDTV) multichannel from 1 January 2009;

· legislate to permit broadcasters to run one HDTV multichannel in advance of switchover, by removing the requirement that high definition television (HDTV) services must be a simulcast of analogue and standard definition digital television (SDTV) services from 1 January 2007;

Ch 7 don't make any extra money from multi-channeling. In 2000 thru C7 they offered 3 cable channels for $49.95 or $59.95. They don't get on with Foxtel, so SBS was the best alternative from their POV. Not ours!

The multichannel rules change at the start of next year.

C7 was cable, totally different animal.

But you can Multi channel on a HD channel now, that's what Coonan's changes allowed. I used the C7 example because its all about money and advertising revenue. When they could make money using C7 they had a broader coverage. They don't reckon there's any money to be made in multi channelling. There is only so much money advertisers are prepared to pay. They don't get any extra total ad revenue if they multi-channel. But selling subscription packages on pay tv is a different story. But they don't have a relationship with Foxtel.

Yeah but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that they are not allowed to multichannel the games on HD. Can’t find it now but...

The more adds they can show the more dollars they get. All 3 commercial networks will be launching extra SD channels next year when they laws change.

not a bitch about channel 7 as such,

but whose f***ing fantastically ******ed idea was it to put the swimming heats in the evening, and the finals in the morning!?!? :mad:

soooo average :thumbsdown: :(

NBC pressured the IOC into it. It was the US v the rest of the world as the UK and Europe now get the finals at about 5am... US get it in late primetime.

Soo average is watching live swimming HEATS. Its heats, they arent too important.. why not show us the Hockey, or anything LIVE. I want to know the ratio of Live to delayed sport per day.. I'd say its close to 50-50 as even that Gymnastics wasn't live.

The $894 mill decided it. ;)

At least give Matthew White some variety in his scripts.

*cue video of channel 7 personality sending a good luck message*
"Yep, he's a good man Danny Green/ex-Blue Wiggle bloke"

3 times now....
