I think its the expectation by us Aussies. We expect that if their is a live australian game on of importance, that we get to see that, over say a US game.
Not too much to ask really.

Heat swims are nothing compared to live finals etc.Diamonds should have been live etc.
They have the options, but they are chosing to ignore them for other alternatives.

I know I like my sport live, yet here in QLD, people dont give a fig about delayed NRL coverage every week. I would spew bigtime if I never saw a Lions game live on TV. One team town and all.

ABC radio ftw...watched the Hackett race with ABC radio commentary and listened to Rice win on ABC radio too, far better than anything 7 is putting out.

I walked into the tea room for the Rice race, everyone huddled around the TV. Great atmosphere, but some were annoyed that the Zimabwe girl was not given any recognition.
I am glad I have over an hours travel to work, and ABC radio is definately better than the TV coverage for me. They have live crosses to the venues that have Australians at, so you know whats happening immediately. A good thing IMO.

seems C7 has been duping us in more ways than one...

The snub by Seven came as it was revealed that some of the footage of the fireworks display shown on television and in the stadium during the Opening Ceremony was recorded in advance.

I was quietly hoping Coventrey would win yesterday, god only knows that the Zimbabwean people could use a little happiness in their lives.

Wow, I thought there was something funny about it. Was sitting around the TV and asked those around me if it was CGI as it didn't look real, feeling a bit stupid at the time for saying it. Explains why now, it was pre-recorded and digitally enhanced.

Were we meant to believe that shot going through Beijing with fireworks going off either side of the camera was real? It was the most obvious digital shot in all of history. I even said to the people I was watching it with "Why am I watching a CGI Beijing?"

I didn't realise that was meant to be a secret.

Surely they could've got someone better than Daniel Kowlaski as a poolside commentator - could be the most boring person in the world.

Stephanie Rice has just won her and the countries first gold medal and it was the most boring, uninspiring interview of all time! Show a bit of excitement.

Laurie Lawerence should be poolisde - at least he has some personality and would show some f**king patriatism!

Also - get Bruce away from the mic whilst the swimming is on. Rice's race commentary was poor - no emotion, dull and didn't do her performance any justice whatsoever.

We all know that athletics is what gets movement in Bruce's pants - not swimming!

Is Norman May with Gerry Collins and Susie O'Neill? No ABC in Sydney and I can't pick up other ABC stations during the day time finals. Can't stand Ray Hadley on 2GB but they have picked up Rob Woodhouse who was at 2 or 3 Olympics with Gerry and Norman.

It's going to be strange listening to the boxing without George and Benny. They have been my favourite Olympic commentators since they teamed up in Atlanta.

I just checked the 2GB link but they weren't broadcasting on the net. But 5AA were, they were taking 2GB's feed. Go figure.

This link lets you listen to most radio stations in the 6 capital cities and Canberra. Just pick a city and then a radio station and you get streaming audio from that station. Also there is a link the radio station you chose, home page.

Forgot my radio today so thanks for the links :thumbsu:

The TV coverage in India is awesome, my friends there have been telling me that almost all networks are sharing the coverage and trying to do most events live. Why don't the Aussie networks work something like that out?

Yeah but if the networks share the coverage wont they all be making money? I think the Indian TV channels are going about it the right way.

to be honest i don't know the workings enough to tell you.

as a very simplistic way of thinking about, channel 7 are happier with profits of say $20m for the olympics with ten and nine making nothing..... then say if they come to some agreement where nine and ten give them $5m and they can share.

this would in effect change the profit levels to say channe 7 $30m, nine $15m, ten $15m....

i think seven would prefer the former situation. run their rivals into the ground. the old saying is never give a sucker an even break. rings pretty true here.

in terms of the public though - the way india are doing it sounds brilliant.

Yeah I know the people I know in India are saying the the coverage is fantastic. And the thing is they are showing/trying to show every even live, no matter if India is playing or not.

The Commonwealth games was the best, when you could buy all the channels through Foxtel.

Everyone was happy.

Sooner they get rid of FTA sport, the better.

Daniel Kowalski is pathetic, the guy has probably never got excited in his life, so boring.

Forgot my radio today so thanks for the links :thumbsu:

So they are all blocked but it turns out it was sitting in a hidden pocket in my bag.

Who really cares about the Commonwealth Games though?

Watching all the nations that Britain has pissed on over the centuries compete, ooh exciting...

That was simply an example as to what the TV coverage should be like.

Continue on your Brit bashing rampage if you must though.

Yep next Olympics will have a lot broader coverage. As I posted before.

Ch 9 and Foxtel have won the rights for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and 2012 London Summer Olympics. On 15th October 2007 when it was announce the 9/Foxtel bid was successful, Foxtel CEO Kim Williams said that they would be showing up to 4 channels of coverage for the winter Olympics in 2010 and up to 8 channels for the summer Olympics in 2012. "Coverage will increase by at least 300%on the maximum that had been achieved previously which was for Sydney Olympics in 2000," Mr Williams said.

In Sydney the TV coverage was Ch 7 + 3 x 24 hrs C7 cable channels on Optus.

The coverage of the x-country in equestrian was terrible by the end, what happened to showing the Aussies??? The last two they should hardly any of

And the commentary wasnt too crash hot either.

Going by the commentary I don't think they had a choice of the feed they got and they were expecting more coverage than what they got as well.
