Congrats on an awseome career :thumbsu:

It's a tough call but if they didn't think he was right to go on and he wouldn't retire what choice do they have???

They are looking at a premiership tilt and there is very little room in todays footy for Sentimentally.

guys, i am sure we are over reacting here. We dont know what was said between him and eade. It may have been mutual for all we know???

I love westy, but after seeing footage of him playing for Willy a few weeks ago, hobbling round , struggling to run, i think it will be very , very hard for him to bet back to being a good contributor at AFL level, and thats just the harsh reality of AFL now a days

cheers

Still, if he thinks he can still play on, that's his call and after 324 games, it is only his call to make...not the club.

Thats fantasyland. Every list spot is crucial. Some players will never retire, they will want to go on forever.

Clubs cant afford to carry passengers.

If the club is going to carry injured players, they should carry a young bloke with potential like Tom Williams.

West, Richo and Harvey are probably the 3 most universally loved players in the game (might say something about the clubs though), and deserves the same send off as Harvey.

Poor form by the Bulldogs, if true.

I have always admired Scott West. One of my favourite players outside Essendon. See him down at the holiday house around Christmas and New Years, his is across the road. Good bloke, seems like a very down-to-earth family man.

If that's the case, Rocca should hang them up at Pie Park. Passenger right there and not getting on the park enough to be good enough. But, we know Eddie has a man-crush on him, so he won't be going any time soon.

Congrats on a great career westy - the time is right to say goodbye  Just hope it was mutual, too classy a performer to leave on a sour note.

congrats on a great career westy, didnt he poll the most brownlow votes with out actually winning the medal?

Matera got 28 but lost to Diesel Williams.

Westy went close more than once though.

Tough couple of days for him, saw a less-fancied teammate win the medal that he just missed out on, then got axed.

That's crap. He's a superstar and still would've been awesome this year if it wasn't for injury. Very tight from the Bulldogs.

Out and out champion who was very unlucky not to win a brownlow 2 years ago.

Fair point, but he's not 34 years old yet - he's 30 - and he actually played some games this season, unlike West. And we've already seen off Holland Lonie Burns and Wakelin, so we have room to take a punt and give Rocca one more year.

But you're derailing the thread, this is about West who had a great career.

Good luck. Scott was one of my favourite players at the Whitten Oval. Good luck for the future Westy and hopefully you can stay involved at the club!

i hope so too. think he will be great as a midfield coach. just look at what his done for cross. but if he was pushed out hopefully it doesn't ruin any ties. intresting time to do it also when cooney is celebrateing his brownlow.

I don't see how it's poor form on the Doggies' behalf. I love Westy and he's probably my favourite player of all time, but if the club have decided he doesn't deserve a spot on the list and he refuses to retire, what other option do they have?

Congrats on an awesome career.

Gutted to be honest. West was one of my favourite players growing up and still is one of my favourites. I will miss him a great deal, not running around in the Red, White & Blue for at least one more year.

I just hope it was a mutual agreement and they didn't just show him the door after all he has done.

I think he was referring to most career votes without a Brownlow. It's either West or Leigh Matthews, not sure.

It's a very tough call by the Bulldogs, but it is one that they got right I think. If they are to consider themselves a chance next year then they need to improve their list as much as they can this trading period, and with all due respect to Scott West, he would not be the elite midfielder next year that he has been in the past. Kudos to the Bulldogs for being able to make such a tough call when a lot of other clubs would have taken the easier route, and congrats to Westy on such a great career :thumbsu:.

There is a difference between being "delisted" and "retired"

So the source is a small article on herald-sun website and SEN?

Nothing on afl.com.au or western bulldogs website....
