Firstly, credit to the Hawks, better team all year and deserve their place in the big one, they stood up in the last when it mattered and have as we all know been bitterly unlucky not to win a match against the cats in many of their last encounters. I am so proud of the way the cats are going despite the loss, lots of great young guys coming through and hopefully we can improve and have another crack next year. Hope the Hawks get the job done next week, sick of the defensive football the dockers and swans play, love the Hawks style, far better game to watch and for me still the team to beat come grand final day!

Geelong were brave but Hawthorn were always going to come home strongly with fresher legs. If Varcoe had goaled and the game had gone into extra time the Cats would've been run off their legs. After so many close results in recent times one was bound to go Hawthorn's way and unfortunately for us it had to be this one. Congratulations to the Hawks.

This game reminded me so much of our prelim in 2007. Shame for the Cats, but that was where we were against them six years ago. A much better team disposed of us by five points but we kept it that close because of our fighting spirit, same happened tonight. Just didn't have enough class when it mattered most.

Grace in defeat.

I like it. :thumbsu:

Jesus christ.
Was that not one of the greatest finishes to a 5 year long saga?
Greatest sport on the planet.
Yeah, but wow. I mean, they have said it was a rivalry, but it is not if only one side wins. Now it is a legit rivalry. ****, there is just no other sport like this, I have not experienced anything like that before.

Hawks, with every advantage in the world (soft first final, week off, full team, nice new wall in the coaches box) barely fell over the line against an undermanned team in the middle of a rebuild. Well done Geelong, you did your supporters proud. At least we can put this curse bullshit to bed and just give Geelong credit for winning instead of voodoo.

Fremantle to win in a CANTER. Try hanging out the back of every contest against Freo.

I can feel the pain and hurt coming through my computer monitor in this one and I gotta say, it's a beautiful thing.

It's games like these that make it an absolute privilege to work at the MCG. I don't work there for the money(just a casual job) but simply do it for the excitement and memories that will last forever like tonight. Well done to the Cats and Hawks yet again for producing another battle to the death 'cage match'!!!
