Re: The 2012 AFC Champions League General Thread

But... HOW? I bet our players have been focusing on this comp for at least a month, that could be why we're doing so bad in the A-League.

Hang in there Adelaide! So far so good.

so Miron predicting an Adelaide win means this is the beginning of the end of days?

Congrats too Reds.

Re: The 2012 AFC Champions League General Thread

Well done Adelaide! A great start. Hopefully they can get out of the group stages to make up for a dismal league campaign.

Pity about the Brisbane result but I have a feeling that's how our ACL results will go if we refuse to change the way we play. Sometimes we'll come up against sides who are just as good or better technically and we'll get done unless we have a fair bit of luck. I'm torn between wanting us to just keep playing the same way or actually being a little smarter at times and being a little more direct at times. The way we play is so much fun to watch, even when we play ourselves into trouble, but it's obvious we'll get hurt by the better, fitter sides with coaches who do their homework.

Is still reckon its stage fright & understimating how good the Japanese are

5 min till Reds kick off

GOAL ADELAIDE!!!

It's like bizarro world compared to the A-League.

It's cup football.

Brisbane may be the slickest outfit in the A League, but that's like being the slickest outfit in Turkey and trying to play a passing game in the UCL against Barcelona. Gulf in ability, let alone class.

When you're not one of the top quality teams, the best way to play is solid and steady, it's something Adelaide has done every foray, and it's why we've been the most successful of the Australian teams.

Great result for the Mariners. It could have gone either way as well, Matty Ryan outstanding again. They're going to be a bloody tired squad by the time they get home after the Perth match this weekend.

The FFA really need to wake up to themselves.

They really do need to look at rescheduling fixtures for ACL teams a bit better if you've got to get off the Perth on the weekend.

38c on Sunday too.

38c on Sunday too.

-2 or something in China where they played last night. Then off to sunny Perth. They have to do shit like that in Europe.

CCM were writing to the FFA in August about this and never got a response. I kind of think the Mariners have been pacing themselves a bit as well over the last few A League games, just doing enough. The injury situation will be critical over the coming weeks, thankfully so far we don't seem to have any major worries.

You also have to factor in the Olyroos boys who are just back from sunny Azerbaijan or wherever.

For such a small and financially challenged club, this is hard going.

pedj back to his old form, he was utter shithouse. Had to laugh at the eurosport commentators bagging him all night "oh no its that right back again" after another screwup.

some bozo shining a laser light into ryans eyes.

in the end a draw was a decent result, given the 2 donkeys upfront and pedj.

You're not a fan of Pedj then?

In seasons past, I have found him to be the most frustrating player we have. This year his passing efficiency has improved heaps and has been one of the best. The game the other night was the worst i have seen this year, I hope it was a one off.

The 2012 AFC Champions League general thread (MD2)

Good luck to all three Australian teams this week.

Tuseday

Adelaide United v Gamba Osaka (7:30pm ACDT)

Beijing Guoan v Brisbane Roar (9pm AEST)

Wednesday

Central Coast v Nagoya Grampus (7:30pm AEDT)

For us to win, we must stop that 'innuendo' player.

Could of had three.

Both teams look good up forward but the reds defence is holding up.

Re: The 2012 AFC Champions League general thread (MD2)

There attacking and winning the ball atm Adelaide. Gamba sitting and waiting for it to come to them. Adelaide have to keep the work rate up or it will allow gamba time with the ball.
