The reason we got rid of watts is the same reason why we wouldn't get polec. They're obviously both very skillful players but they both seem to lack the defensive part of their games. That's why polec isn't getting a game and that's why watts was traded.

Perhaps there's more to it but still you know what I'm saying. I think Goodwin would've noticed polecs efforts when we played North and wouldn't want him.

Pretty sure he's been back a few weeks from that nasty leg break now, but until last round, there probably wasn't too many opportunities for him to get a game with how they'd been going. I just read half a random page of the Port board's Changes thread, his name comes up plenty, so might be a chance.

McCartin was always a poor pick. Undersized KPF with poor aerobic abilities. Saints fans still in denial surprise me, just admit your club f’ed it up. We stuffed up taking Scully so early amongst a million other first round picks.

Scully was the consensus #1 ranked draftee.

Everyone else would have taken him with the 1st pick.

He was really promising in his first year too.

Trengove taken 2nd was silly, Martin was clearly better. But MFC was always going to take a private schoolboy ahead of a high school drop out.

That's a ridiculous comment about Trengove, he was highly rated as a junior. And there were massive doubts over Martin, especially his fathers influence over him.

Don't agree with that, Trenners was a jet - Martin might have been better but if it wasn't for injuries Trenners would have been a great pick.

Maybe Ball before Judd, but Ball's still pretty good.

According to this article, we're likely to have a crack (along with 16 other clubs).

"North Melbourne has reportedly shown interest, while the Demons are actively looking for more pace and skills. These two clubs will have plenty of competition if Williams remains unsigned this time next month".

Williams clearly suits our needs - whether we can afford him or not is another question and I'd have no idea of the answer.

Not a recruiter in the league said they'd go Martin over trengove. Purely cos he was crushing it in the SANFL against semi pro grown men.

Dees have 100% been having a nibble. Talk of 800k is way off. Be 600-650 tops. Don't be surprised to see them trade Josh Kelly to keep Williams though. That rumour is going to pop soon.

Just my observation but I'd imagine Hunt, Jones, Wagner X2 and KK open up about 650-800k a year between them, Jetta is contracted next year but was heavily front ended.. speculation is Viney will take a slight pay cut on his previous contract.

Also, I've heard Tom McDonald may interest Adelaide to build a forward line around and keep them semi experienced if Tex leaves. Very highly doubt that eventuates but that's a little whisper I heard. Adelaide also going to have a look at several lesser named players- apparently fantasia and dumont among others.

Going to be a lot dependant on salary cap and list sizes next year. But expect this season to have the most trades on record by a long way.

Agree with the last bit, can see a lot of trades going through as clubs flip players around to free up cap space.
