Draft Day is here

Unlike last year when the excitement of adding No.1 pick Harley Reid to our list was palpable (and also near certain), this draft is uncertain and viewed with equal parts excitement and trepidation

We go into the first night with pick 12, which is expected to slide to 15 after academy and Father Son selections and a lot of guesswork on who we’ll take. Or even if we actually use that pick with rumours circulating that we might trade up or back

Night two we have pick 26 (subject to change) along with a gaggle of late picks. Again, there’s the possibility of trading into the draft with another pick using one of our later future picks and even less certainty on who we might pick

The one near guarantee is that NGA product, Malakai Champion, will be an Eagle at some point over the next couple of days

So sit back and watch to see how the draft unfolds whilst praying we don’t do something stupid

Positive is that Bo is an upgrade on Culley...

Negative is that neither of them can find ..or are any good with ball in hand from the videos that have been put out.

Might be competing with Ginbey for a spot
Oh no. I hope your wrong about that.

We absolutely can not afford to bungle any more first round picks. Or we will be in the bottom 4 for another 10 years.

The crazy thing is it's arguably worth it for them. The AFL gave them so much last year and they picked up the 2nd best mid in the draft again that they simply have no need for another top 10 pick for another decade. They need a decent tall and time is slipping away to get one in time to develop them along with the rest of the squad. It's a wild move that a club that hasn't had this level of assistance could never even contemplate, but a move that they can make without it hurting them a bit.
I wonder when norf started offering there f1

Wasn’t online during the draft but I assume people are relatively happy?

Traded down, got another pick in the third round and still managed to pick up the best WA player who was projected to go earlier.

I’ve got no idea why Port did that trade. Surely they were pretty confident we weren’t going to take Berry if we were prepared to let them ahead of us. Nice to pull one over them for once.

One of the Eagles top 15 targets is still on the table so can't say much but **** ME you can see why it was nigh on impossible to buy back in.

Best laid plans down the path of 'best available' number 8 on WCE draft board Bo Allen. I really wish you the best Bo and I know Mini wants speed but I just don't see a midfielder in you mate. A good player yes, but midfield, not so much. Maybe in a few years.

Freo and the Power both wanted to move up but not by enough to get anything seriously meaningful. There will still be some very serious talents in the 40's in this draft.
If Allen was gone, was Murphy Reid our man?

Shanahan another Brander maybe?

Freo made us a trade offer too to get Berry so Port beat that offer

I suspect it was because we were going to trade that pick to Fremantle if they didn’t do the trade

Week ago Eagles were taking Berry at #12 , headlines in the West , Sunday Times .
Port needed to be sure , to be sure .

I really wish you the best Phil and I know Mini wants good players but I just don't see a recruiter in you mate. A semi-decent liar yes, but recruiter, not so much. Maybe in your dreams.

If we wanted Allen from the start I think we’ve done very well in an even draft.

3 for Allen, Baker, Owies and 45 (Champion?).

Doesn’t sound terrible on review. Then Barrass for Warner potentially next year.
That's a good perspective on it. I'd rather those four than just Smith or Draper on their own.
