Draft Day is here

Unlike last year when the excitement of adding No.1 pick Harley Reid to our list was palpable (and also near certain), this draft is uncertain and viewed with equal parts excitement and trepidation

We go into the first night with pick 12, which is expected to slide to 15 after academy and Father Son selections and a lot of guesswork on who we’ll take. Or even if we actually use that pick with rumours circulating that we might trade up or back

Night two we have pick 26 (subject to change) along with a gaggle of late picks. Again, there’s the possibility of trading into the draft with another pick using one of our later future picks and even less certainty on who we might pick

The one near guarantee is that NGA product, Malakai Champion, will be an Eagle at some point over the next couple of days

So sit back and watch to see how the draft unfolds whilst praying we don’t do something stupid

Being better in the short term depends on people’s faith in Harry Edwards to adequately replace Barrass by enough that the other veterans can push it over the top. I think we are.

We’re better in the long run, with two firsts and two seconds to tackle next year with on top.

The argument of did we get maximum return for investment (we didn’t) is very fair, or are we as good in the long run as we could have been (I don’t think so) but people acting like we’ve gone backwards are being performative.
Something had to happen the club got used to loosing. Not putting in consistent effort. I Think this circuit breaker will make the Eagles better in the long term.

Having a look through the guys left, I really hope we get Dennis. Fills a massive hole and looks the most put together of all the prospects, especially the WA lads.

Lions wouldnt need these picks then surely? Can we offer hawks F2 for two of them?
OK briztoon - time to earn your rights that you have had on our board. Give us you prediction.

What are Lions plans with picks 46, 47, 559, 55 and 59? These are the picks that Norf, Blues and Crows gifted your club by not being brave enough to bid. Thanks goodness for sanity and Jason Taylor at Demonland.

I would've been confident with Reid had we picked him instead.
Spoke pretty well and confidently in his radio interview.
He didn't sound like a kid that was overly daunted or overwhelmed about moving interstate.

Trade as many in to next years as possible.

If you offer Hawks F2, I'll package 46 and 47 up, tie a bow on them, and drive them West Coast personally.

There are some glowing articles about Moraes and the more I read the more I'd love WCE to get him with our next pick.
However, if he's taken, I wonder if we could trade back again as it seems that Whitelock & Shanahan are rated highly and could create some hype for some clubs. Wouldn't be against WCE getting picking either but I wonder how far back we could go and still get Davis?

What a difference 24hours makes

A very good outcome last night securing Bo Allan with pick 16 and earning an extra pick (currently 44) in the process via a trade with Port Adelaide

Won’t take long for our first pick (30) tonight to come up as it’s the 3rd pick of the night. Who we use it on will very much depend on what Richmond do in response to some desperate trade offers coming their way

Anyway, buckle up and here’s hoping for another successful night
