Oscar is one serious injury away (and this was only last year) from causing our forward line to collapse.

Waterman has stepped up obviously, but Darling is gone and JWilliams goes alright so far (and is no guarantee to make it as a top line KPF). That's it. The others are unproven.

I hope we go best available even if it's a key position player.
I don't like picking KPPs from other states that need development in the 2s .

Its one thing starting your career knowing you will have to wait years to get AFL exposure. Its another thing to do in another state away from your family and friends.

If we are going to spend a decent bit of draft capital I would rather pocket something trading down this year and take a Dennis at pick 45 then cody Curtin next off season .

Just my opinion but if we can slide back a few spots while pocketing a future 2nd then picking up a hard runner in Davis or boxshall it would be better .

If Shanahan and Moraes are off the table who do you take?
I'd take Kayle Gerreyn, James Barrat, Clancy Dennis before Moraes, Mraz and Whitlock. Gives us Ruck/Forward, Fwd/Def, Gen Def. I think Barrat will be a gun, but the move west could be tough. Gerreyn is a beast and Dennis is gutsy and reads the play well.

So many people sleeping on Jack Whitlock.

He's a good alternative to Shanahan if we miss out.

200cm mobile KPFs don't grow in trees. Gee he's got some skills and quite good off both feet for a bloke his size. Another in the vein of Archer Reid.

Too many wet pants over the amount of KPP's we'd potentially be stockpiling, but if the talent is there you can never have too many. Besides, a few of them might not be around in a couple uears.

Jamieson likely gone EOY.
Barnett is a potate,
Bailey Williams "should" be traded.
Livingston is a Cat B rookie and generally they need to be showing a fair bit to be retained, or he'll be out the door as well.

Just like Monocle said, you can turn any decent KPP into a defender. Load up and stockpile while we can, they aren't players who are expected to be playing AFL in their first, or even second season anyway.

My kingdom for anyone capable of understanding Barnett is a potato and Williams should be gone however... Hopefully Mini figures this out for them

A reid maybe a keyD.
Livingstone is a project.
B Williams forward craft is ordinary at best.
J Williams as a 3rd tall/ruck only.
mcgovern nearly done.
Barrass gone
H Edwards still developing?

We need another tall. Take the most talented.

JWill is not a 3rd tall. Very bullish on him being one of the best KPFs in the comp in about 3 years time. Otherwise agree with the post.

Sounds like there's enough interest in drafting back in between Essendon & Geelong that we could still get seat on this ride.
Anything that involves a F1 in & an F2 out, plus a small slide back in this year's draft would be massive.
3 x 1 rounders next year gives us a crack at Warner + Freddy, particularly given we can also use 2026 1st in trade.

I mean as a entirety of the last 10 years as opposed to just last year

Crazy to think these nimrods think we have re invented the wheel after 1 draft. Its going to take them 5+ years to realise the wheels have changed
And it’s probably going to take certain nimrods five years to realise we are talking flying cars now!
Well if you’ve got a spare $25,0000!

If the Dons F1 is in front of us we should take it. I don't think they'll be close to finals next year. Ditto think cats will also drop off.

Over the last 10 years we've drafted 31 WA players and 38 Interstate players...

So yeah it's a pretty good balance and proof that we don't just select WA players only.
We are definetly changing this ratio though.... we are heading twoards more of a 20 WA and 50 interstate in the next 10 I feel.

In actuality if you go over every single interstate club, they all have the exact same ratios bar Port Adelaide who are the outlier and heavily drafted interstate.

Quick look at their list shows the current make up is they have 6 Adelaide born players drafted. They do have 6 traded in though.

We should snap up one of Shanahan or Whitlock. Both have KPD experience and potential, as does Archer Reid, so we can shift someone back in the future if need be.
However, if an outrageous offer comes our way, then it may be wise to take advantage of that, too.
Honestly, it would be difficult for us to come out of this promising situation with a poor result (touch wood).

Look at the last 4 flags and their success is pinned to run and carry and ball use off the half back line.

Pies resurgence 2022/23 daicos.
Lions 23/24 kitty colman/zorko
Geelong 23 Stewart Tuohy
Richmond 20 baker houli

The quarter back is in vogue.

Yep we are trying a new strategy to have aggressive players who have shits kicks of half back.

Very new. Very unique. I wish wce luck in Ginbey and Allen duo of half back
