He's unproven. All club's supporters love to think a fringe player will end up top-tier. It's possible, but there's no point counting chickens until they hatch.
So we don’t bother putting him in the equation? Let’s keep gnashing our teeth over pick 3 and don’t think too much about our own back yard!
Anybody watching that second half against Geelong should have been salivating over that cameo.
The state of the game and the opposition is irrrelevant. He’s got the goods.
A season ago we would have gone; JWs?? Meh!

So noticed that this years AA u18 CHB Clancy Dennis from WA isnt getting a lot of love in phantom drafts both media and non media.

A likely pick in the 40s or even 50s?

Surely we do something late here? Its just a no brainer isnt it?

Foot injury , four month recovery possibly ...
Otherwise would be a pick in the thirties ...

Nope. He's a MSD draft kid with potential and people are deluding themselves that he will take us to the promised land. Let's talk about him if and when he starts playing like Elliott Yeo, until then we should cool our jets and stop looking like deluded fanboys. Even when Ted Bundy told his mom he did it, she still didn't believe him. It's on that level.

Probably a happy medium somewhere. I have faith but im also not willing to assume he will be successful so leave him as my one and only option. Im barely willing to work such a scenario with Harley Reid, never mind Hutchison.

A secondary aspect of this, is the problem Id say in reality is Clay Hall didnt show much in the WAFL this year so we all believe he is out of the equation. We should probably be a bit more patient and realistic with him too

Was at the game - Hutch was great, but Geelong had entirely put the cue in the rack. He needs more exposed form and hopefully will get it, but who knows what Mini's plans for him are.

Bazzo's efforts really excited me in the Geelong game also, needs more love.

A aspect to think about is how do we get in ahead of Richmonds pick 10 and 11.

If Demons are keen on Armstrong and confident that Richmond wont take him at 10 or 11 then they should be smart enough to get something from us for pick 9 knowing both ourselves and Richmond have similar interests at picks 9/10/11

Its not outside the realms of possibility that we did something like pick 12 + 26 for pick 9 + F3rd like deal and then use Pick 9 on Murphy Reid...

Infact its probably the most likely move of all when it comes to making a trade move in the 1st round

After that it will be up to us to use 2 F2nds to get something out of Essendon knowing we have the best offer they will get

Ginbey has been told he’s a back after 30 odd games in the middle. Could see history repeating if we get TT. Like both but right now I’d like a more pure mid

Except TT would play his first 30 games in defense not midfield.

Like Hough played his first 50.

So not sure how history can repeat. TT would be following the Will Day / Yeo / Dawson( Crows) development route. Three odd seasons in defense then moved up the ground when he has the AFL body to do it.

In his first three seasons TT does what he does really well, intercept, compete and rebound from defense. And learns what AFL level is all about.

I think a lot of these guys play in the middle as teenagers and as they go through the funnel, if they're not in the best 5 or 6 (state level, academy level etc), they get shunted to HBF. What a "pure mid" typically is, is a player who was in the top 5 or 6 mids and play mid at all levels to the pointy end of the funnel. Essentially, it's just a better player. This is often the difference between a top 5 pick and a pick in the 10-15 range. We had a period there where we recruited a lot of HB flankers. Essentially second tier mids.

When you put it this way, I don’t hate it. Ok I’m in on TT now! My luck would be they’d start say Lindsay or Reid back like Sheez or Daicos anyways!

Just did a search. Bugger. Bad timing for the kid.

The Kevin Sheehan write up listed three other WA tall defenders who likely end up late or rookie types.

Clancey 195cm was one. Ankle injury.

Tom Bell 197cm anorher with an ankle during the season but came back late and played well.

Joel Brown 195cm an underager who has progressed really well.

And also Darcy Perterson who played u18 champs. 193cm maybe a tad short for KP defense.

Can see us definately adding another project defender or even two. One in the main draft and a rookie.

Clancy Dennis being a WA boy doesn't really matter if he has a late start to next season TBH .

Get him late in the national draft and can take a couple of years to develop with no go home factor.

I really like him very under rated . Great mark , great defender and lovely kick .

I don’t follow the u18s so won’t name players, but what we need in no order are outside mid, mid and key backs
Banfield F/S next year is an outside mid/HFF

Also if we get the Chad next season we could probably pick up corey warner for nothing as another outside option .

Elite ball winners , Elite distributors off the HBF and a KPD is what we need IMO

With champion and wally as NGAs the next 2 seasons small forward has been filled too .

We still have a massive hole in our ruck division.

Taking Knobel pick 3 in the rookie draft would be a sound move
