If we go tall Armstrong would be happy with.

But looking at Cooper Hynes video as a mid he is pretty impressive
The fact he is good resting forward is another plus for him

Would prefer him to Hotton or Murphy

I’d be happy to jump back a few spots for Hynes if it netted us a F2. Would then have 3 F2’s to use to jump back into the sweet spot of the draft.

Damn. Getting the feeling it's unlikely either Lindsay or TT will be available at our pick

Hopefully a few teams reach on some talls before our pick tomorrow

Would be happy with either Reid or Lindsay. The TT dream is dead :(

From memory will have to go search my records i have most players preseason testing

It was 3.22 or 3.32
Would be interested because Rookie Central says this:

Reid did well later in the season to add some run-and-carry to his game, venturing on forays which connected the field. His leg speed is not quite elite, though he nearly pipped the three-second mark for the preseason 20-metre sprint.

Initially we dreamed of Lalor, Draper and FOS...gone.

Then we dreamed of TT and Lindsay...almost certainly gone.

Then we dreamed of Reid (..well some did)....could be gone.

Depressing time for a team that came third last.

I'm nit picking here but

Murphy Reid is the only guy befitting of number 3 and being the Chris Judd to our number 9.

That number 3 was meant to go to siddy.

I don't see Bo, Xavier or TT befitting of wearing number 3
Both Murphy and Judd, went to Caulfield Grammar and played for Sandy Dragons!

Apologies for the intrusion, but I’m hoping to get some insights on Bo Allan, as he’s now being heavily linked to us with pick 6.

Given he’s from Perth and was previously linked to your first pick until it became clear he’s likely to be drafted earlier, I figured you’d have a good read on him. Personally, I’m struggling to get excited about him, so I’d really appreciate any thoughts or a bit of a rundown on what he brings to the table.
In short, I'm a definite fan of his. But I'd take Smillie over him and pick 6 just seems too early.

He's got great pace and agility, absolute competitive beast and can play a variety of roles from 3rd tall defender, half back, wing, on ball. Has a nice long kick, but sometimes he can miss targets or make snap decisions which aren't always high quality.

If I was Tigers, I'd take Jagga (although sounds like Lalor is the actual pick), Smillie, Shanahan and best available of who is left with 11: Allan, Travaglia, Reid, Tauru.

Tigers taking Lalor, Smillie and Allan with their first 3 picks. Seems like they've got a type in mind for big bodied mids.
Sucks that Lindsay now seems to be out of our range, same with TT.

I will be holding my breath that we don't
1. Trade our F1 for a pick in the teens
2. Pick Hotton after an ACL and followup surgery and only a couple of games in his draft year
3. Take a tall forward with pick 12
4. Reach for someone like Bowman with our 2nd ,who wouldn't have gone for another 20 picks anyway.

I'm really hoping Cal is right and Reid slips to our pick, would be a huge result.

I think Reid will slide to us and I actually would be pretty happy with it after the trade blunder. Watched him live he seems to read the play really well and was using it well too!

Would anyone do this trade with Essendon

Trade our F2 and F3 for 28 and 31 before a Kako bid which has already been raised

Assume a Kako bid comes before our pick

Trade pick 12 for the 2xF1 picks Essendon hold (theirs and Melbourne’s)

Gives us 26,28,31 in this draft

But we go into 2025 holding 4x R1 picks - ours, Essendon, Melbourne and Hawthorn. We’d also have R2 and R3 picks attached to Hawthorn

Essendon will lose 28 and 31 matching a Kako bid and are on record as wanting to get back into R1 of the draft after a bid

We get a look at 3 decent picks in this draft and hold what could well be 4 picks in the top 12-14 of next year.

It has merit - I think he 2025 draft is a good one

I vote Yes. Thats gets us Warner if he chooses us, a couple of first round talents plus hopefully after that Banfield, Walley & Evans.

Hitting the sweet spot in this draft plus next years haul will really set us up for the future. Its feels like the top end this year all have big questions marks on most of them so happy to load up next year.

Hope we go Hynes at 15
Get in before Bulldogs
Hotton knee sounds bad should be running by now
Murphy is treakle slow i dont think his evasion at afl level will be enough to overcome that defiency so projects as a bust to me
RE I always like your posts, but Reid isn't not treakle slow. He's pretty quick over 5 to 10m, I definitely think quicker than Langford!

I do like Hynes, maybe we trade Hawks F1 with GWS to come back in and take him?

I also would love Nichols, so athletic and fantastic grab and field kicking. It's just his kicking for goal that was absolutely shocking, but if he's a backman who cares.

I can relate. Was fiddling around on the work tv this year to get it on channel 7 for Melbourne cup.
At 12pm, when the race was due to jump, the 7 race coverage is running a feature about some trainer in bumfark nowhere. I’m wondering why they’re so late to race.
Go back to desk to check out, am informed others have streamed online from CHANNEL 9 and the race is run and won.
Noice

The possibility of moving Oscar back is something I'm torn on. I think he is an AA KPF, but he'll also be an AA KPD. It would open up all kinds of draft options with some very decent KPFs available at our pick.

Just embrace it, he has a higher ceiling as a defender than he does as a forward and others have a higher ceiling as forwards they they do as defenders. People think it's some kind of slight if you try to turn a player in the next Glen Jackovich rather than Wayne Carey. This is a club built on the reputations of champion key backs. And just about every one of those backs was drafted as a forward and could play as a forward. Who's complaining that we never saw the best of Ashley Mackintosh, Adam Hunter, Michael Brennan or Jeremy McGovern forward?

I'd 100 percent do this but I find it depressing still

Given it sounds like Hotton is quite high on our radar, this is quite an interesting read

That WAS a good read, cheers for the share.

Would it have killed old mate X to wear some damn shorts in the first photo though?

Also, those hairstyles have aged like milk. Curdled. Left in a hot car all summer.
