You never posted your own argument(s). You just said my opinion as wrong. You never explained why. You aren't one to be verbose are you?

Plz elaborate some. What are YOUR ideas Mr. slicedndiced? It's very hard to debate someone who only focuses on what I say and doesn't present their own ideas.

Why should I waste time with some douche who has preconceived ideas and bias against players, doesn't know who they play on or what position, (didn't watch the game!!), and clearly has a limited understanding of the game?

There are far more knowledgable and less sanctimonious posters who I will happily engage with after the hysteria of tonight dies down and the big people start talking sense.

For now, I am just happy to call out bullshit, and your post caught my eye.

Went along. Ultimately I think it's one of those games you just have to accept happened and move on. You came up against an extremely in form Hawks side, were missing key ballwinners and were just slightly off your game, which against a side like the Hawks is all it takes. Mundy won't have as ineffective a game as that again for a long time. You won't find it so hard to apply pressure again (I think the G/Ground size issue is overrated). You won't have so little of the ball again. It's just one of those games.

As mentioned above, an encouraging sign was the Pav. After a slow (by his standards) start to the year, he was fantastic tonight. I also can't help but think that Ballantyne nailing that set shot may have eased some mental pressure he may have been feeling so maybe he'll be more loosened up now. Add in the names you've got to come back, and the season is young yet. Long way to go.

For know, I am just happy to call out bullshit, and your post caught my eye.

Now that doesn't make sense. You expended time "calling out" someone who doesn't, in your opinion, have much knowledge of the game. In fact now you've spent allot of time conversing with this person. If this person was really someone of no importance you would have ignored him, right?

Then you accused me of being someone who only posts when we lose, despite my join date being Jun 2012 (the start of a long period of success for this club), and despite me having over 500 posts since, something which could not have occurred if your thinking was right.

I think you are the last person to be sanctimonious (thnx for the apt word) in your current "state" whatever that is,( are you drunk?).

Good night to you sir.

edit: oh I see who this is, the very affable former member Proud Bogan. You've returned have you?I knew I recognized your posting patterns from somewhere (very belligerent, very obnoxious, very combative).Always hinting at possessing superior logic which he is unwilling to post. Always "busy" except when it comes to backing up his arguments.

Wow isn't it interesting how quick West Coast fans forget.

One of the many from their board :

"Comical how over rated Freo are. Absolute spuds on every line, zero depth and an inbred culture of utter pathetic failure"

The bloke who posted that is a known idiot

No doubt most of us eagles supporters enjoyed the game but even if we win tomorrow most of us are well aware of the gap in quality between the sides we have played and those freo have played. In a month we'll know better if we've improved

Freo supporters paying attention to that poster is the same us eagles supporters paying attention to slicedndiced

Hai bushie

And yet, yours is one of the few boards where I have yet to receive a ban.

Haha cheers for the heads up keyser

Why expect him to perform beyond his talent though?
It wasn't so much about his talent, more about where he was playing. He didn't appear to be playing solely a defensive forward role tonight. I saw him in the centre a lot (why he won more clearances than he usually would). I didn't expect him to get Barlow like numbers, but given he was quite a prolific ball winner in his pre-draft days, I thought he might have relished the opportunity to have a go back in the middle and get his hands on more ball. We got flogged in the middle though and Hawks dominated possession and first use out of the middle.

**** :D

You need to be a very special kind of plonker to get a card on our board usually

Freo board is generally the same in terms of decent mods with the obvious exception of one height challenged mod

Hawks were delicious tonight. Played perfect footy in the first quarter.

Was thinking the game would suit as more as it when on and on. Our pressure was good enough to pressure a lot of sides but the hawks were sublime and got one more possession out. This went to a free player who then used exquisite skills to cut us to bits.

Rioli is untouchable at the moment. I went to look for him in brown low betting but couldn't see him. Is he rubbed out from last year?

All that being said I am not too concerned about 2014 except for the injuries. We may well lose to the bombers but in the big picture I think it's not all bad. Wait up... The one thing I'm concerned about is our game plan on the mcg against a team who can kick as well as hawthorn.

We are not the best side in the competition which is a surprise to some but we never were. We are capable of competing deep into the season and perhaps stealing a premiership.

I am glad Ballas nailed his set shot. Am pleased pav showed he is still a force. Also Stephen hill was all round awesome. Took more responsibility. I wonder if he went up a notch knowing his brother is out there. Relax everyone, it's a long season. I did appreciate how Ross Lyon doesn't fly off the rails in the coaching box. For the second half I thought it was important that we stuck to our structures and not try something weird.

Good for crozier and Sheridan to get plenty of game time. I can't see how Colin Sylvia would have helped us at all. I hope he's working on being more agile. Also nice to see Danyle actually nail one from fifty on the run.

I think we will quickly put this behind us and move on.

Needed to quote if nothing else to distract from the bitch fighting going on.

Good post, and agree. But I still can't understand were our work-rate and pressure went. The Hawks are always going to be good enough to win, even if we were focused and on. But after a few lucky bounce goals to get them going, it just looked like the boys spooked out and became entirely reactionary. Slow off the mark, super fumbly - all but Hill just looked so poor skill and poise wise.

Yeah, Hawks really were just fantastic, but we went a long way to helping them look a million dollars I don't care what anybody says.

On the Balla shot at goal, I don't think we can underestimate that. You could see it in his face that it meant a lot to nail that. Of course it means nothing in the short term of the game, but it's good for him to get that through the system - and we need him in form because it looks like SonSon is going to be out for at least a little while. It's not much of a consolation, but you've got salvage what you can from wrecks like that.

I'm bummed about Walters. I have a bad feeling about this injury this time. He has had knee niggles for so long. Only a matter of time before he has to have something done about it.

He was looking very dangerous for us this year

You guys couldn't have played any worse and we couldn't have played any better than we did in the first half. You are obviously a lot better than you showed tonight.

It will be a much different game next time we meet with different personnel.

If we don't win the flag this year i hope you do.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

They just seem to be able to so effortlessly cut us to pieces with their kicking. They are kryptonite to the Lyon gameplan.
As much as it pains me to say it.. I think this is the crux. Given the outs we have had against them recently, I have thought we could beat them at full strength, but with each loss im starting to have my doubts. Their gameplan just doesn't allow for the pressure/long kick/mop up/rebound we are based around. Finals pressure brings it closer, but you really need everything to go right, a bit of luck and all your key players at their best and them to be slightly off IMO.

I think the hawks at their best at the MCG are a 4-5 goal better side

And anyone who rates B.Hill as more than a soft average outside runner needs their head read. has average skills and doesn't rate body contact at all.. god I wish he played for someone other than Hawthorn/
