Heard it from the horses mouth

Dunstan hasn't been interviewed by Port yet

:(

Holding onto some hope as Port never interview Wines

Port definitely didn't interview Wines as we thought he would be long gone, was stated last year draft day

Hmmmm.

Any time over the last few years I would've been violently opposed to this given what it would cost, but by now his value might have fallen enough that I'd be OK with it. Hampson would give us the tall bloke we can stick in the goalsquare to free up Schulz, and also offer ruck depth which would allow us to move on Renouf (in a perfect world, move him on to Brisbane as part of a trade for Polec). Right now he's a pretty average player, but with his incredible athleticism for a big man, if he ever learns to consistently mark and kick (and we all know taller players quite often turn out to be late bloomers) he'll be a very good player.

As long as it doesn't cost anything more than a third rounder, I'd be OK with it.

Not keen on Hampson still.

come on Megan Gale alone is worth a second rounder, and we get a football player too.

Can see this working to some extent but it raises the question of why we don't just keep Renouf, and offer Brisbane our second and third round picks for Polec and their fourth round pick, if it's about trumping the Crows.

So two options then to make our offer to Brisbane more attractive than pick 27 from the Crows:

1. Pick 30 and Renouf for Polec and their fourth rounder
2. Pick 30 and our third round pick (about pick 48) for Polec and their fourth rounder (late 50s pick)

Haven't seen enough of Hampson play to have an opinion on this but Megan "Man Hands" Gale would only be worth a third or fourth rounder these days.

hampson would be an upgrade on daniel stewert. give us a 2nd ruck key forward.

the problem is carlton would want our 2nd round or someone like young (no way we let should let him go)

there is no way we should pay a 2nd round pick for a 3rd string guy who should be behind lobbe and redden.

for a 3rd rounder it isnt a bad move but im not sure carlton would be interested in a 3rd rounder and to be honest i couldnt care less if we kept that 3rd rounder and went with youth.

Pretty sure Hampson will be a free agent at the end of next season. Why would he be on the move now?

Carlton might try and squeeze a pick out of him while he still has value...3rd round value or whatever they can get. If they don't get it, next year they either re-sign him or someone will offer him more money then they want to pay him. We could offer a pick and get him on a similar salary to now, or wait a year and pay probably over his worth (ala what the crows did to land Betts, ableit Eddie being a better player).

I reckon Dunstan will slide a bit. I rate him as a person and he has a tremendous work ethic, but his deficiencies which are speed and sub-elite disposal by foot will work against him.

Also don't believe he's the type of midfielder we need.
