So you get a stand alone fixture and you still want to complain?

What's wrong? Concerned your club wont have the pulling power to get people to a stand alone game?
I'd go along to the game despite not barracking for either North or the Bulldogs, just to boost the crowd so they don't take it off them and gift it to one of the big boys.

It's disgraceful one or two sides get all the marquee games, making them "big clubs", then we are told they only get the big games BECAUSE they are big clubs. It's a catch 22 cycle that us "lower" clubs can never break into unless we are actually given the opportunity.

The hospital appeal is only relevant in Victoria. No reason you couldn't have a game outside Victoria, involving non-Victorian clubs. Ch 7 could still show the appeal in Victoria while Fox shows the footy; with Ch 7 showing the game in the competing clubs' home state.

It'd be a good day for a WA derby or a Q-Clash.

What happened to that Eureka Stockade game North Melbourne were trying to get going?

You can't just put a name on it and expect it to take off.
And what day do we celebrate/commemorate the Eureka Stockade?

I don't care if Good Friday gets footy, or who the 2 teams are, but Good Friday is a National holiday that falls during the footy season, so if it helps smaller clubs with revenue/exposure then it's a good thing don't you think?

I'm not disputing that at all. Just that clubs wanting a marquee match and assuming it'll instantly be a big hit. It won't. You can't just put a name on a game and suddenly have it take off.

If Ch7 have issues, Foxtel would be more than happy to have an exclusive Friday game on a public holiday.

Watson gave the reason the Blues would be overlooked for Good Friday as the AFL want to allow smaller clubs like the Dogs a chance to have their own game from day 1
No need to take games off other clubs, not sure why you would ask this?
He mentioned that Carlton were a big club and sides like the Dogs and Kangas needed to have their own traditional games from day 1

The game was meant to be NM and Carlton. We did the homework. Just like Collingwood and Essendon did with Anzac fixture.

North V Carlton - Etihad @ 2.10

Game would be huge and make a heap of money for the appeal which I think is held at Etihad also so there wouldn't be a lack of focus.

Get the tin rattlers there, have Mazda and Mars put up $500 for each goal their team kicks...

Makes too much sense.

AFL will go for a later start as they are aware that a percentage of the crowd will observe in the morning/early afternoon.

Twilight sounds about right.

It's more about NM asking for a Good Friday game ages ago and approaching Carlton. Now we can have game if we play bulldogs.

What happened there? Worth North trying to get a game to happen in Ballarat?

Richmond got involved in the Dreamtime game.

If the Good Friday game goes ahead, can we get rid of the Easter Thursday game... do we really need the round to last 5 days?

Having Brisbane involved with their recent form doesn't help the Easter Thursday (or is it Good Friday eve?) spectacle?

I don't think it has been that simple. I believe that North and Carlton had organised to be get their two captains to present a cheque to the RCH's appeal after the game.

How is Gold Coast not playing in the Dreamtime game? I mean, the Aboriginal flag has a sun in it!

Dreamtime has caused selection headaches for Essendon of late. Some have suggested fringe players like Jetta and the recently retired Nathan Lovett-Murray have been "gifted" a spot in the best22 for dreamtime....

Well they have been the ones pushing for Good Friday Footy for the last decade...perhaps you should have been lobbying Port and other clubs then.
Not worried that Port never pushed for it but these melbourne centric stand alone fixtures are pretty tiresome
