Port adelaide have offered pick 30 .

That was spoken about a few days ago. There was a quote in this mornings articles on Perth Now that quotes from Port saying that they think Gumby is going to go to us and that they are going to back their talent in.

Things change of course.

Yes like you stole mcphee and bradley off us for nothing in return.

We tried to trade you for Bradley but you demanded an unreasonable price for a guy you knew you were about to delist.

Essendon have been trying to screw us at the trade table ever since our first season.

Found this on the Port board, the Power supporter who attached it also posits that Gumby probably won't dock at Port:

- "(Port's) mild interest in Gumbleton - to meet the need of a third key forward... complicated by not having wanting to concede early draft picks to the Bombers"
- "Power football operations chief Peter Rohde yesterday told The Advertiser his club would rather back John Butcher to beat his injury curse with a solid pre-season than take on the same challenge with Gumbleton"

- "Scott is keen to get to Perth"
- Port more interested in Thorp by the sounds of it

Its taken Bondy along time to do due diligence on Gumby. This should have been done alot sooner, we are into the mid way mark of trade week and we should have known last week whether we are going to deal on him.

We're still a way to go to doing a deal according to Bondy's comments. To be fair to Bondy I think we also had an eye on Yeo at one stage and this deal may spur others to fall into place quickly thereafter.

I not overly convinced bout Gumbys health but we do need help there. I just hope this doesnt become another Clarke situation where we take too long to deal and allow others into the equation.

I was speaking rhetorically when I responded, it hasn't been reported anywhere that I could find. Since the only place Connors is likely to have spoken is good old trade radio and AFL.com haven't reported suggests it hasn't actually happened. Still, who knows.

No way they would offer 30. No way.

Gotta remember these Bombers players carry infraction risk that can't be quantified, and is therefore likely overestimated by potential suitors. Seriously wouldn't be surprised to see them take our 4th rounder. If the draft is as thin late as mooted, he may well walk for nothing.

Which is why it would be incredible if they didnt take Mellington straight up (if that is what is being offerred).

Not taking 22 for Crameri is incredible. I can't believe they'd offer it to be honest.

This whole 3 weeks trade from 1 then 2 is only drawing out the inevitable.

If Freo are going to get Gumby like any other trade and deals going on at the moment it doesn't need a three week trade period to do it in. I wish the AFL went back to shorter trade periods.

Seeing as we have lost hille and crameri maybe we should keep gumby then.
Pick 22 for a player the dogs who are prepared to pay 2 million dollars over 4 years .
The possibility of infraction notices are not coming into play for the dogs.
Yes trade week is too long.
My family through home sickness had gumby for a meal once a week in his early days at the bombers ,hes a great bloke, hope everything good happens to him.

I think 22 for Crameri is very fair. If you can get a proven performer like Crameri for pick 22 I'd take it most days of the week.

In reality, the clubs should have as long as they need (whatever fits into the off-season schedule) to make trades. The longer, the better. Stupid shit happens when people rush. The problem is, the AFL like to hype the shit out of it - Gillette Trade Period FFS - and all of us supporters that love talking footy just eat it up - it's the only time of year I visit AFL.com. The trade period shouldn't be news, the trades themselves should be the news.

Why? The only reason you find it annoying is because your hanging out for FFC news :)

The fact is there are compensation picks to be handed out and the general consensus is that clubs are waiting on that before finalizing decisions/offers. The AFL should be handing out compo picks AS free agency moves are completed, ie. Paperwork in, approved, compo pick delivered. Then the waiting wouldn't be so arduous.

  • If you wanted to keep Gumby you'd offer him more than 1 year.
  • You're making up numbers on the Crameri deal. Nonetheless pick 22 is all that he is worth to the Bulldogs (certainly not pick 4). Indeed, as Crameri is uncontracted, pick 22 is overs as they could just pick him up in the PSD.
  • Nice that Gumby got a home cooked meal occasionally, at least it wasn't all peptides.
