I genuinely believe if he was able to play this year we would have got the fourth flag. Such is his influence on games. Hopefully he has this cancer beat soon. While obviously his health is undisputably the most important thing it would be great if he could run out for us in round 1. And before anyone says it won't happen, just remember that many shot me down when I said Burton would play this year.

I really dont think Rough will play again, but gee I hope I'm wrong.
But more importantly, I'd rather see Rough celebrate his 80th Birthday than kick another goal for the Hawks!

We don't need to tiptoe around it, folks.
We all care more that he lives than that he plays again. We don't need to feel we have to preface our statements with that qualifier every time we post about Roughy.
There seems to be this feeling that if you post that you hope Roughy plays again soon , it may be inferred that you don't care if he lives or not.
It's a sensitive issue, but we don't need to justify ourselves if we express a desire or hope that he plays as soon as possible.
Just thought I'd mention the elephant in the room.

Very true. Just always seems to be one person who likes to try and take some sort of high ground. I guess prefacing posts like that to avoid a shitfight seems easier than having to defend yourself - not that anyone should have to as like you say, we all do care more about his health than whether he takes the field.

Whether he comes back in Round 1 or sometime after that it's going to be epic just seeing him running out there again.
I miss seeing him on the field. He makes other players around him so much better.

Jeez old mate Robbo would struggle if he did indeed get up for round 1. Not sure how he can in all good conscience refer to the Dons players as 'brave' or 'heros' if they're coming up against a cancer survivor who also happens to be one of the most loved men in the game.
But I'm sure the moron will find a way.

Is there any update on rough? I'm on another forum and somebody stated they heard something bad.Has anything changed last I heard he was doing ok.I hope things are ok and he can beat this evil illness

No one knows anything on Rough unless they are personally close to him and I doubt people that are personally close to him would be sprouting things on Social Media/ forums.
