Just shows how bad it is if he can play like that the last 2 games. Where the **** has that been over the last 5 years

Delist. It won't be another 3 years until we get 2 good games like that out of him again. Makes sense to trade while good value. For the love of god no contract extensions.

Who would have thunk it - most accurate kick for goal this past season was Guthrie, shows another reason to keep him in the middle because he can be damaging when going forward

It was actually Duncan, having kicked twice as many goals as your boy Guthrie but yeh, his finishing this year was good. Probably his best season since 15/16 without really being very good.

This is too funny. Dangers fault Guthrie went missing in the second half lol

Guthrie went in for a center bounce after 2 goals against us early second half with it being his rotation. Danger walks in too and tells him to go deep forward and he was going to take the centre bounce instead. From Guthrie's reaction it was clearly against the rotations at that time (he was livid) and Guthrie spent the next 5-10 mins deep forward (not his strength). Danger had already been in the centre bounces we lost earlier that quarter and proceeded to go for the hero overhead handball and be part of a midfield getting smashed rather then let the guy who was BOG the week before and really good in the first half get a go.

Guthrie had a shit second half. But his record in finals is very good despite having to play roles that require him to put the team first above his own game. We could blame him or we could look at the guy who is completely unaccountable, lets us down in finals again and again despite the whole team being set up for him to win the ball and would prefer to lose with the Danger show than try and win with a team first game plan. I know who the bigger issue for our team is by far.

Is there any footage of this, or did you see it live? Just checked the replay but it didn't show the Dangerfield/Guthrie thing.

P.S - How the hell was that not holding/throwing the ball against Soldo following that centre bounce?!

Saw it live. Was clear as day from the hand gestures and was the most selfish thing I've seen a Geelong player do. Danger looked at Guthrie and pointed towards the forward 50. Guthrie stood with his arms out looking at Danger asking what he's doing and then Danger for a second time signalled for Guthrie to go forward. Guthrie didn't want to go but eventually ran off just in time to not be penalised for incorrect starting positions. He was shaking his head and was clearly absolutely livid. Can't really blame him after coming off perhaps the best game of his career and having a really good first half. It also didn't help that the first tigers goal of their comeback came because Danger gave his opponent (Cotchin) free range to tackle Stanley at the first center bounce of the half.

Wow. Not worth replying to but once again, thanks for the laugh!

Danger is utterly brilliant when he plays well. But we set up our entire team structure to allow him free range to play well so when he doesn't play well it's very difficult to win games. He's been by far our biggest liability in finals since coming to the club. Solving the riddle of how can we get Danger to contribute positively in finals is the biggest step we can take towards team success. Having him demand to be "the man" and then fail when it counts isn't helping.

Man, that is shit house by Dangerfield.

Rubbish.

It's the best player in the team trying to take control of a situation, which is what he did countless times for the team in 2019. Just how many of Geelong's losing games in 2019 was Dangerfield the almost stand alone performer in? Plenty. If even half the players on the side showed the commitment he does week to week, the side would be a lot stronger.

Dangerfield is a leader at the club, Guthrie isn't. Guthrie had his chance in a leadership role, but failed after the one season. Who's surprised?

It's called taking responsibility, taking it upon yourself to influence the game. If it's at the cost of the worst midfielder in the team, who cares? I will agree though that Guthrie playing a role forward is a complete waste of time... he's like watching a monkey trying to dress itself.

Guthrie is a spud as others have mentioned. He remains an under performer and a good representation of the main problems in this side - inconsistency, soft, non committal, emotional and lacking confidence.

With all due respect, I'm not willing to discuss anything Guthrie related with you. Have a nice day.

My guess is with no runners it has fallen on Patrick's shoulders to call the midfield rotations in game as he sees fit.we can't just have players( Guthrie )running around sooking it's my turn.
