Anyone else, I'd laugh at the prospect.
But Doc has made a habit of defying expectations of what we should expect a person to be able to do.

I’d feel more confident having doc in the side off an acl than Ollie to be honest
Unnecessary to knock a kid busting a gut for the team IMO. Ollie has room for improvement, but other than his partner in crime on the wing, no player in our list runs harder and smarter defensively.

Would love Doc to make it back, but we don’t need to disrespect one player to elevate another.

There is a reason Ollie is in the team despite the loud chorus among the fan base to demote him.

He is in a catch 22 situation. His body can’t “develop” physique wise, while he runs a half marathon every game day. His strength should be allowed to improve, but is not given a chance.

His ability to run is a strength but at what point does winning the football and damaging your direct opponent & opposition take priority?

Tired of hearing how it's sooo good to have elite runners like Ollie & Cotrrell but at some point you've got to find the football do you not? Both are 'Below Average' for possessions, marks, tackles...

Same with guys like Fogarty & Fantasia. Pressure is a basic fundamental for a small forward but you have to actually kick goals if you're playing that position. They're both currently rated 'Below Average' in this department.

We seem to accept mediocrity more than most teams.

Hard to win the footy when the offensive part of the game is generally run on the opposite wing to him. He plays a position that is extremely valuable, yet quite often doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. Unrewarded defensive and offensive running, outnumbers at contests. Didn’t we also used to slate LOB for getting sucked into the contest looking for a touch too?

Seems like a really unnecessary pot shot at Ollie…
Too many of our supporters look for a whipping boy but they have no idea how damaging it can be to a young players career. All players would either read comments on here/other social media platforms or at least be aware of the commentary around them. I find it infuriating as it would kill their confidence which makes it even harder for them to improve as a player. It has to stop.

It’s up there with booing players pre game. It’s infuriating

How ya doin' mister?

Move this to another thread if this doesn’t belong in here. Im not always someone who gets sucked into champion data stats, but I recommend listening to Daniel Hoyne on Sportsday talking about our turnover game.

For those wondering, 17 of the last 18 premiers have been top 3 in the turnover game. He says Carlton are second, only 4 points behind Sydney, and we are one of the best teams at scoring off turnover, and comfortably the hardest to score against off turnover.

Whether you chose to take any stock in it is up to you, but the top 4 in the turnover game are currently Sydney, Carlton, Brisbane and Freo. The current top 4 in that order. Pretty remarkable listening

Geelong 5th, GWS 7th.

Not a big fan of X from Y premiers have been top Z in a, b, c but at least it's more contextual than "top 6 for points against".

About bloody time something was said about this cheating ruck debacle.

We've got one of our best players sidelined for God knows how long, I'm ****ing furious. Our club really needs to force the issue here.

Those two teams are apparently “miles off” according to Hoyne. It’s certainly much more contextual than other metrics used

WHERE THE BLUES LIKELY FINISH IF THEY...

Win five: 2nd, plays Brisbane (MCG) in qualifying final
Win four: 2nd-3rd, plays Brisbane (MCG/Gabba) in qualifying final
Win three: 4th, plays Sydney (SCG) in qualifying final
Win two: 7th, plays Western Bulldogs (Marvel Stadium) in elimination final
Win one: 8th-9th, plays Hawthorn (MCG) in elimination final if Hawthorn beats GWS in round 21 OR if their win comes against Port Adelaide in round 20, misses finals if GWS beats Hawthorn AND they lose to Port Adelaide in round 20
Win none: 10th-12th, misses finals

“This is based on the degree of difficulty of the kick that you’re trying to pull off and how far above or below you actually pull it off,” Hoyne told SEN’s Sportsday.

The 10 worst kicks inside 50

1. Matt Kennedy (Carlton)
5. Sam Walsh (Carlton)

Degree of difficulty as assigned by....? Success rate as decided by.....? This is where CD loses the plot. Inventing subject measures to then create an even more subjective index. There's some elements of truth but it's too far towards 'fit the stats to a story instead of find a story in the stats.

Hoyney really does get carried away with stats.

"The Ladder is not the real ladder, the one that counts is points from transition. 17 of the last 18 premiers have been top 3 for this stat"

You know what else? 17 of the last 18 premiers have finished top 3 of the real ladder.

Kennedy was interesting as the worst kick inside 50 in the league. Normally has pretty good penetration but is often just pumping it in from 80 out.

To be fair, to the eye test Walsh isn't a great kick in general. Very few of his kicks inside 50 are kicked to any sort of advantage. I don't think he has played many "impactful" games this year, to be honest. Cripps on the other hand has been had most impactful I can remember.

Walsh is an odd one. In 2021 he was so silky going inside 50, felt like every time he got it from 70m out it was going to hit a target. Since then he's definitely dropped off with accuracy hitting those targets. Did say that with his back issues his kicking was effected quite a lot. Hopefully can find a way to get back to 2021 form with his ball use, the rest of his game is as good as ever despite a quite month recently.

Sydney and Carlton are 6 points apart in scores from turnover differential

There’s nearly 70 points to 3rd

Carlton have been the best by a mile for the past two months

17 of the last 18 premiers have been top three in this area

If we can clean up our defence and stoppages (and that’s a big if) we could go all the way

Our defence is in all sorts right now. Mainly because our midfield is not applying enough defensive pressure. Along with McGovern being out our intercept game inside defensive 50 is all or nothing in the air with Weitering and on the ground with Saad.

We are leaking goals too easily and the opposition are scoring too quickly in succession.
