The case against Cloke

I liked the idea of having hampson, cloke and kruezer in, made us more deadly up forward, i think we should keep all 3 in the side

i thought of this... but what happens if 1 or 2 players go down through injury during the game... you are stuck with a big one dimension player on the bench and one other player...

could cost us game...

I'm with you on all this.

And, for an example of how team oriented he is, did you see him put he's head down and belt off the ground after kicking that goal to get the change over as quick as possible while the ball was on it's way back to the guts. That sort of work ethic impresses the f___ out of me.

Very, very good point. He was heading off at 100mph before the ball had landed in the crowd. Great effort.

Not sure the MC should take into account injuries that haven't yet happened, AB.

In the seniors he (Hampson) is playing 50% of games. That's just getting him nowhere.

My suggestion is we give Hampson 70% game time exclusively in the ruck, with Kreuzer filling in the gaps and playing the rest of the time forward with only a little rest. Hampson will learn quickly to use his athleticism and we will become competitive in the ruck much more quickly.

Thoughts?

My thought is you don't understand why Hampson plays 50% game time.

His former sport was soccer. Lots of short sprints followed by jogging to position etc.

Ruckmen have to run at pace all day much like a midfielder. Hampson would blow up with more ruck time.

We all know Cloke isn't the long term answer, and the fact is he is young himself, but he is a competitor, and that is extremely imprtant for a ruckman.

Hampson will get there, but needs to work a lot on his disposal (didn't mention this about Cloke did you ;)), and his fitness/ability to run all day.

Hampson should be played for the rest of the year for the experience, but not at Cloke's expense.

ok Cloke is a temporary measure unless he can play as a forward 1st and a ruckman 2nd. He goes forward and looks slow and can't chase which might be because he's spent from rucking. Or maby he is just slow.

He needs to improve his overhead marking and goal kicking although it isn't that bad, it's not great. He can't ruck against really good ruckmen, they kill him in all areas.

Must prove he can be a starting forward who rucks occasionally or he will be replaced by a better ruckman. in the future.
