Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

St Kilda are starting to sound like the NRL when anything about GWS is mentioned.

"People" are not trying to destabilise St Kilda, "People" don't care about St Kilda, all that happens is St Kilda continually out themselves in situations where shit gets out, hardly anyone's fault but the Club and players.

Nick looked like a ****wit with his pompous indignation so soon after whining about Gilbert being an idiot and allegedly annoyed for not deleting photos.

Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

Dont recall saying that - I'll take your word for it - but its a numbers game. I dont proclaim to be an expert on all our younger players. I leave that to Derek Hine. He is the man. I'd rather my club invest in a Blight or a Thomas or a Rounds than in a Jesse Smith or a Pattison or a Lovett.

Blight quit the club, by the way. He wasnt sacked. Like Gaertner for StKilda, he just gave it away. It happens to most clubs. The difference of course was that in Collingwoods case Blight left BEFORE draft cutoff date so they were able to draft another player, whilst in StKildas case he left AFTER cutoff, so once again StKilda enter the season without a full list. They are a rabble.

Jesse Smith was a very good player and worth the risk could you say the same for Rusling? Pattison well theres your Corrie although at least Pattison had a purpose. What about Obree Fraser and Buckley what were they listed for? None had any role or chance of playing regular seniors.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

Wasn't sure if he was serious or not about the conspiracy theory, would have been funnier if he was wearing a tin foil hat though.

While I am sure the media are all over them like a cheap suit looking for any new stories, wherever there is smoke there is fire. Club is under the spotlight, you just have to keep a handle on the off-field incidents.

Corrie was rubbish. No problems with that, all teams carry one or two duds.

Rusling wasnt recruited by the Pies, he was retained. Theres a difference between carrying an injured palyer and recruiting one. At least the club had a 100% knowledge of his injury status, as compared to StKilda who were guessing and hoping about Smith. He was a proven big game player and was given one more year to get fit. He also had a variety of different injuries over his career, rather than one chronic problem, which made it difficult to assess.

Fraser was our number one backup to Jolly. Perfectly good player.

O'Bree simply got old and was superceded but if Ball had not worked out due to injury or form he'd have been straight back in the side.

Buckley will be tested out this year as to whether he's worthy. He was young and cheap when drafted. Then he misbehaved off field and was punished by the club.

What purpose did Pattison have exactly? You had Gardiner King McEvoy Kozi Stanley Blake and a couple of otheryounger player to fill his role. Picking him up was a complete waste of time. Talk about over-insurance!!!

So why keep Obree? Once you had Ball he had no chance at all of playing. You are quick to critisise others dead wood but you had plenty.

you were actually going ok until here. obree and fraser were good depth and deserved a place on the list. if nothing else, they were great club men who helped develop the vfl players

simon buckley would have played every game at st kilda in 2010. he had a superb year at vfl level, was an afl emergency a number of times, but simply couldn't force his way into the best 22 of the best team in the comp. but being in the best 25 of the best team in the comp is no disgrace. from st kilda's GF 22 he would walk into a team ahead of any of peake, eddy, mcqualter, dempster to start with just off the top of my head be an improvement on the roles they play

gold. he should have gone with the tin foil hat

how can he keep a straight face and get up in front of the media and start talking such rubbish? the saints themselves are the only ones bringing themselves down

Yeah I seriously doubt Buckley would have beaten Didak like Dempster. If Buckley couldnt get a game in front of Toovey Blair Lockyer or Davis I doubt hed play in front of Peake or McQualter.

Any way I can count on your support for StKilda drafting Gamble now can I.

Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

Gamble might bo ok. But polo on the other hand.....

The saints should bave chosen one of these players but not both of them.

Well going from Captain Peanut, Gamble will be a gun so we cant lose. So really taking a risk on 24 year old Richmond rejcet with pick 103 is just as safe as taking a risk on a 28 year old Richmond reject with pick 25.

how exactly do you deduce so?

gamble was worth the risk tho in my view from a st kidla perspective. polo wasn't

don't underestimate toovs by the way. he is a bloody good player

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

Takes a big man to admit he was wrong. I don't expect any such utterances from Ross Lyon even though the proof is writ large

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good lie. One bloke asked the question and then got drowned out by everybody else there. Lyon wasn't even on the stage when it was asked.

You rate Buckley a walk up start as he was in your best 25. Well Gamble was in Geelongs best 25 for 4 seasons. Mind you Gamble wasnt delisted by the worst perfomed club in the last five years.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

I thought the same thing, a typo made by the Tiser. Then I saw the footage. I'm still convinced he was going for 'stand fast' and well ....... how he got to 'stick fat' given his team mates is anyones guess.

Yea well its not a new saying in Melbourne - guess as always it takes 20 years for Adelaide to catch up.

Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

None again Timmy, I'm genuinely surprised

Though it does put perspective on most of your other unsubstantiated claims.

Just KS ones :thumbsu:

I've often wondered if they are one and the same. :)

Re: Why the current Saints team will NOT win a premiership

I've made tons of comments about Voss and Brisbanes dreadful trading and drafting. The only difference is that I dont get as much push-back from Lions fans because they are more pragmatic and they admit their club has botched it.
I was talking about Voss the player. He retired from Brisbane at the end of 2006 and remained on the list in 2007 due to salary cap issues. Yet you say this practice is "unheard of" and has only ever been done by the Saints

Michael Voss (veteran – outside list) – Champion now retired. Only listed to fulfill salary-cap restrictions.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

. Then some idiot pulls out the Greening incident. I can tell you straight that no two Collingwood fans had the same story on the day. They all saw something different. Fact is the game was hard then and he hit his head on a shit ground. True, it should never happen but it did every weekend back then and it was going to happen sooner or later. No point making martyrs and scapegoats out of players when it was the VFL that allowed it to happen.
Fact uis that it doesn't matter what comes out of St Kilda there are those whose bias is an illness. They will only see and interpret what they want.
Thats it, my rant. roll on the AFL season.

Rubbish.

Getting punched in the back of the head from behind with the ball 100 metres away didtn happen every day in the 60s.

It was O'Dea the punt who did it and he should be hounded fo rit until the day he dies.

Scumbag player, following orders.

Re: Roo - People are trying to break us down.

It's not really a Collingwood / St. Kilda thing but for the course of a history lesson, quite a deal different.

When our last serious transgression occured, McGuire, Malthouse, Scott Burns (who represented the playing group) & Gary Pert decided the punishment. We didn't create a self proclaimed "bubble", we didn't try to hide anything & our players were suspended from meaningful games (i.e. finals) as opposed to pre-season training.

Yes Panther Rohan, that is correct.

Has there ever been an official acknowldgement/apology over the incident by the individual or the club?
