The decayed decade

What I am saying should not be equated with karma. Nor did I mention the word Nemesis once. What I am suggesting is a different concept.

I don't see how the 99 finals, for instance, or even the 2009 final series, undermine my theory (and theory it be).

Unlike the years of torment endured by Melbourne and Richmond fans, I am confident the storm has passed for the Blues and tend equate the club's recent woes with a recovery from a nightmare relationship more than anything else.

When after 20 years the club acknowledged irreconcilable differences, the locks were changed on Big Jack, followed by a cathartic unfolding of various impacts induced from years of mistreatment. The new distance between he and the club engendered an alternative perspective on qualities once admired; a result not all that uncommon in broken relationships.

In this respect, our 'decayed decade' is simply a matter of causality; an equaly apt "in-built mechanism to address sustained, wayward behaviour" one would think. The same postulation could also be employed after we complete our rise to September glory.

I think Bob said it better...

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

A desecration to link Bob to your boys if I ever saw one
Bob sent that message to you around 2000 I think you were too busy to read it
I think Don dropped a line to Bob last week that kinda confirms it

"And now I think I know what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They're not list'ning still
Perhaps they never will"

Dont know why Bob bothered myself but he does have strange traits

Erm...there is a point to the song, and clearly it has swept clean over your noggin like a fighter jet on grand final day.

Being a Collingwood supporter when it comes to discussing the profundities of history's great philosphers you are dangersouly ill-equipped. I would urge you to play it safe and swim between the flags...doubtless there will be a thread on here somwehere about the most suitable spoiler kit for a VK commodore, the never ending debate about who would win a fight between Jack Daniels and Jim Beam, or things the Wiggles could have attempted in their endeavours to 'Wake up Jeff'.

Best of luck.

God almighty, memories of that F111 standing on its tail and shooting the moon GF day, 1999. All downhill from there unfortunately. But how loud? :thumbsu:

Erm .... Thanks, where would I be without you. There is a point to both songs but I never felt Bob and Don were that adverse to a little reinterpretation.

Maybe its too simple for you then again occassionally I think those who loudly proclaim their intellectual superiority do protest too much.

Hey its nothing to do with the individual...I'm as lacking in grey matter as the next dirt farmer.

It's just a Collingwood thing mate, you can't fight it....it's nature...it's Darwinian....it's probably a little bit of Mabo too. You are resigned to a life where nearly, almost and not quite are invariably good enough.

Quoting for bignoting will surely bring forth gloating.

"doth protest too much"

Thank you also, such refreshing intellect.

Looks like I left out quotation marks also, silly me.
