The Glen Archer medal ceremony a little over the top???

The post match was not meant for any of you killjoys. It was all about Glenn Archer and the supporters of the North Melbourne Football Club. Your opinions in this matter are of no interest to us. But thanks for paying attention anyway.
:thumbsu: agree

Why do the opposition fans even care? This moment was about North Melbourne, celebrating one of our cult heros and a legend that will never be forgotten.

IT was a nice touch to a great day.

Is everyone jealous that there 300 gamers didn't get the same acolades? Christ.

It was for our player and our supporters, everyone else can take it or leave it.

Archer is only the second player ever to reach this milestone for our club - he is also likely to become at least our equal games record holder this season, and he will also retire. Given that he was also in our team of the century, and was chosen by past players as the guy who most represents what the club is all about, it is right that the club gives him due public recognition in 2007. They can really only do it once, and they chose to do it this weekend. I loved it.

And I was also pleased to see how many Bulldogs players and supporters stayed around, and how many of the players went out of their way to shake Archer's hand after the game. Classy, like most of their supporters on here.

The Glen Archer statue is to be unveiled next week at the MCG, Don Bradman's statue will be moved to the car park.
From 2009, Archer's face will be on all Australian currency (bye bye Queen), The Glen Archer channel will be starting on Foxtel and 5% of your income tax will be going to the Glen Archer Foundation with $1 going towards World Vision!

Remember today beacuse in a couple of years you will be lucky to see the Kangas play more than 5 or 6 times a year, unless you move to sunny Queensland! And that is NO JOKE!!

At least when your lot becomes the Western sydney bulldogs, you won't have to wait 53+ years for a flag or even wait 46+ years to just play in a Grand final. How pathetic!

A north supporter giving crap about finances. You have to be either stupid or very very young. We are in great shape compared to the Gold Coast Kangas:thumbsu:

We have done nothing, and still have 30k membership compared to your low 20k membership. You poor foul

Yep, the medal thing was OTT. And awesome.

He wasn't talking about your finances - it was more about all those GF's you haven't seen your team in, for that matter probably your mum, dad even grandparents haven't witnessed the bullies running out on the last day in September.

We were OK with your lot when we were asked to put our hand in our pockets in '89 when your club was almost over and out, which for your information i and a lot of North people did, so slacken off on the North abuse my friend and worry about where your own club is at and the empty trophy cabinet you have.

So are the bullies getting zero dollars for those "home" games in Darwin?

You lost the game yesterday on a day that a favourite son of North and a player admired by his peers at other clubs was playing his 300th, Get over it.

Hear, hear, well said, Gabbie..

As for the doggies, bulldogrob was right on the money.
They have done nothing and will continue to do nothing.
You sad foul, or was it fowl?

Have never really rated Archer. Think he is as hard as old boots and very courageous. Has never been a player that has worried me when he has had the ball though.

Having said that, its a fantastic effort for a player to reach 300 games and plays the way he does. Congrats on a great achievement and well done to the Kangas supporters for getting behind him

Archer seems to get the cheap kicks these days!!!! Seemed to play the loose man in defence yesterday

He played on Sam Power for a bit (funniest thing I have seen this year), but mostly played loose. When you have played like he has for 300 games, you should be able to float around and pick up cheapies.

What's McMahon and Gilbee's excuse?

in a way it was a bit over the top. harveys 350th didnt have that much attention as archers. this may sound a bit over the top but maybe they were celebrating their last kangaroos player to reach 300 in melbourne. im not saying the kangaroos are definetly going to move or merge but im saying if worse comes to worse who would be the next player to reach 300?

Why did people celebrate the year 2000 more than 1950? (I'm presuming)

Why do cricketers celebrate 100 more than 150?

That is a massively shit addition to this thread.

Does Gilbee have any concept of having an opponent?

Interestingly enough Gilbee averages more spoils per game this season than Archer, so you just completely stuffed that point up.

Gilbee also has 6 contested marks, which Archer couldnt have more than cos that would have put him in your top 5 contested marks this season.
He has also kicked long more than Archer and has more rebound and inside 50s than Archer.

And yes i realise they are different points of their career, its still interesting.

Why is Gllen Archer rated sorry highly? Not trolling, I just want to know! I mean yea he plays with all his heart, never stops trying and has undying courage. But never really found that much of the pill and he himself admits he's not the best disposal. So why is he like the most pumped up player? Is it just the owners of the media know him or something?
