Paul Chapman - too short, too slow
Max Rooke - Has a cracked, but will never be good enough
Lonergan (2010) - Surely everyone got him wrong?
Tenace - Will be a star
Bomber Thompson (end of 06) - The list clearly has talent, but he can't get the best out of the players, so he has to go.

I rarely go hard early on young blokes with potential. That said, I'm 100% convinced Cockatoo will be elite. Hopefully that call belongs in the "I was right" thread.

Who has been telling people they are wrong?
Haven't looked through the whole thread but it seems everyone is putting their hand and admitting fault.
Perhaps some people have and then deleted the post? ;)
I think we're all misinterpreting the line "telling people they're wrong". I suspect it's not intended as they are wrong, but instead telling people "they were wrong", i.e. "I told everyone Brett Spinks was the answer at full-forward, and I was wrong".

Yeah, nah, not in my case sorry mate.

Thought bartel was cooked three weeks ago. Has turned back the clock in recent weeks and now taking contested pack marks again. Good to see him back.
Yep, his marking has looked a lot better recently. Seemed to lose it for a while there, even though the commentators wanted to keep ramming it down our throats that he's one of the best overheads mark for his size. I hadn't seen it for awhile but has been clunking so good ones again of late.

I was wrong about Kersten. Like many I always thought he had talent.

I originally thought he would be a star but by the start of this year I didn't think he'd amount to anything.

Confidence is obviously a massive factor for him, hopefully he doesn't look back from here.

Three weeks ago? He has been good all year.

Good you can say so though. Others still can't bring themselves to.

I thought he was absolutely shot at the tail end of last year. Nothing wrong with this year's form though. Like most of the team.
I didn't, thought he came back from injury quite alright. Not a world beater but a valuable contributor still. not as clearance prolific last night but was behind the ball more - understandably given the early loss of Lonergan and subsequent defensive reshuffle.

Same, really was happy Bartel went on another year but at the same time, he's no longer a valuable commodity like Blicavs, Duncan, Guthrie, Selwood and Dangerfield are today.
Like it has been mentioned in the game-by-game reviews, he is the icing on the cake these days. His past fortnight has been terrific, definitely best footy he has played for well over a couple of years but father time has started to hit home. It's one of those dilemmas the coaching staff face.
Bartel I bracket in the Lonergan category. We have ample replacements necessary and as such, they can be managed from now till the end of the year.

Well at least that's my opinion on it anyways. You would probably disagree which is obviously fine.

I view it as, we've got depth in a few areas (shame about Kolo) and it is therefore the responsibility of the chasing pack to oust the incumbent. Competition is a key ingredient for successful sides. In this case his likely competition GHS needs to oust him, playing well is one part of that which he has been doing, Bartel playing poorly is the other half. As long as both criteria are not satisfied then the status quo should remain.

That said, in line with the rotation so far Collingwood/Carlton may be as good a time as any to give Bartel a week off after an interstate trip. Especially ith iirc GWS, NM and the Dogs to follow after that.

This also applies to Gregson who came in arguably because of Lincoln, not sure he did enough to retain his place so he'll be hoping Linc doesn't come back in next week.
