Hats off to this bloke. He lacks polish and talent of most but tonight he showed that he deserves to hold down our CHF position. His crash and take no prisoner style play tonight evident when he crashed through Pratt was fantastic.

So long as he keeps providing a solid contest around tha 50 as an alternative to Fev, keeps on crashing the pack and bringing the ball down to the ground for the likes of Yarran, Robbo and Betts then he has my support all the way!

as long as the opposition here his footsteps i'm happy. knowing some huge bastard like cloke or fev is gonna fly thru you with knees out ready to break your ribs will put a lot of hesitation into opposition defenders or men dropping back. bring the ball down to betts, yaz, hoops, judd, garlett (alot like tambling, except he can actually play the game) wiggo & any other no. of players lining up for goal.
reckon we'll be a high(er) scoring team this year but will have mids & backs who'll hopefully let less points go the oter way.

curlier than a catoggio pube

good hard tryer, all you can ask.

Couldn't agree with you more Chels.
Aside from late in the game when he went into the ruck, you can see that the club are going to play him accross the HF line, and I really think that he can provide a real contest there, and also give some assistance to Fevola.

If he can kick say 25-30 goals this year, I think we have certainly got ourselves a much more potent forward line, and also not look so predictable when we go forward.

not good enough unfortunately. he will have to do for the time being.

That's my thinking too.

He needs to take those 50/50 marks also, once the ball hits ground level his defensive pressure is minimal.

Liked how he crashed the packs, but Carlton need more than that. Hopefully more improvement to come.

I hope it comes back to bite me on the bum, but Cameron Cloke isn't even a poor man's Spalding. Clokey does provide a contest and can kick a mile, but he's slow and kicks it inside 50 with low percentage kicks by blazing away. Cloke will only play CHF for most of the year because we lack other options and Hartlett is injury prone.

He's a lot more than that. We lack a big presence in the forward line other than Fev if he's not there. He's got good hands and love the pack marks he took last year. If we can manage 20-30 goals out of him this year than he's donw well.

He'll hurt us when we let Luke Hodge play off him.

The wablues own Cam Cloke is his actual name now
Heart of phar lap

Gave up too many free kicks early but work rate 100%
Sling mud all you like he is our work horse
give it up for the Clydesdale of the team!

So on one hand Cloke is too slow & doesn't apply much pressure, while on the other hand, if you believe the media & North Melbourne supporters, Hale is going to be a fantastic forward & the replacement for Nathan Thompson. Cloke only needs to average 1.5 goals per game for our forward structure to work better (he kicked 9 goals in the last 5 games of the 2008 season), but more importantly, if he keeps on bursting packs open, our smaller forwards & midfielders are going to have a 'feast'.

I agree totally, and he only got into the game when he rucked rather than at CHF

His 2 goals from a crumb ( not what we need him for ) and getting blocked at a ruck contest (lucky).

Leigh Matthews made a real valid comment during the telecast.

"If you are big and slow you have to be excellent, being average is not good enough"

I think this applies to Cam

When Cam Cloke kicks 8 in a game against Geelong maybe you can start to compare them.

Hale is also a moster when compared to Cloke ( about 7cm taller ).

Cloke was not good tonight.....he did contribute, but he was not good although he gave Fev a couple of nice blocks to free him up on the lead.

Have to agree, I've seen Cloke play better than he did tonight. One thing I definitely noticed tonight was the diffirence in quality between our players. Now that we are starting to see real talent come through there are definitely tiers in talent becoming apparent in our side. Not everyone can be a champ but the cream is definitely starting to rise, potential is starting to be fulfilled - finally.

How was Stevens' form giving him lip for taking that shot on goal from outside 50 when the game was dead? Get over yourself Stevo!

Cam Cloke will kick some arse in home and away 2009. Rest assured.

Stevo was right and trying to re-enforce the game plan......Bentley was a mile in the clear 45m out straight in front and Cam ignored him at took a long shot from 60 out that fell unsurprisingly short.....passing was an option that most players would take 99% of the time.

Stevo and Cam kissed and made up as they walked off.

I like a senior player to get stuck into teammates if they ignore team plans, This was not a skill error but an isolated act of selfishness.

This is an important contribution that very few players on our list are capable of doing. With Fev being our #1 go to man, we need a big body to get in the way of those who want to double or triple team Fev. Until we get another quality, big bodied player who can actually get out on the field regularly, Cloke is going to be very important in our forward line. If he can kick 30+ goals this season, which I can see him doing, we will definitely play finals.
