We may win this gav/bord trohpy, but prefer to watch our young guys fighting it out, instead of our elderly stateman most of who should retire to the shield.

The only series that interests me is the ashes, we should be blooding as many young guys in this series as possible. Pope should take lyons spot and there is another ten players under 25 that should be in the team. OK you are going to ask me name them i already have and if they do id probably be interested in this series again to see who makes it at test and who is a good shield player.

Below is a list of the best 25 players under 25 compiled by Fox Sports. I don’t follow Shield cricket closely enough to vouch for it’s accuracy but I’m willing to include the best dozen are somewhere on that list

Some of them I’ve heard of, many I haven’t but if I was to put together a team on the ones I do know, they’d be obliterated by India (and England)

Your idea is moronic

Lloyd Pope before Todd Murphy and Rocchiiccioli.
Ok................

So Marsh unlikely to bowl in the next test

If the batting line up remains unchanged it means Labuschagne will be the 4th seamer 🤦‍♂️

Surely one of them gets dropped for Webster with Green already missing?

It's a shame Aaron Hardie's career hasn't really kicked on in the past few years. He could've found himself in the spotlight right about now.
As seems to be the theme in Australian cricket at the moment, he was absolutely carving it up when there was no spot for him in the test side, and now that the door is open for him... nothing.

Same story with the openers, and with the frontline pace bowlers. For years we had Jhye tearing it up ready to come in at a moments notice, now when Hazlewood goes down we have to turn to... the corpse of Scott Boland.

That requires Marnus being dropped, which is extremely unlikely.
With Marsh unable to bowl, the selectors will want to bring in all-rounder, meaning either Marnus or Marsh get dropped.

Or they could just not bother with an all-round option, and go in with 4 bowlers only. We've done it plenty of times before.

Another option is to drop McSweeney and put Marnus in to open? Harsh on McSweeney, but I think we all have an expectation of how he is about to perform in the second Test :grimacing:

They’re going to use Marnus and Head as change bowlers to rotate through the quicks.

I don’t agree with it, for what it’s worth.

I think they may be able to get away with it considering its a pink ball test, and looks like it'll be overcast a lot. Surely won't be able to name the same XI for Brisbane off a short turn around though.
If Konstas does well in the Shield game that starts tomorrow, I would hope thats enough to start the conversation over him being selected.

It would depend on who (if anyone) makes runs in this test out of Marn and McSweeney. Marsh's bowling fitness may also come into it I suspect.

Konstas opening with McSweeney at 3 would be my preference. I'm really not a fan of blooding someone and then dropping them after 2 tests.

Ashton Turner ruled out of tomorrow's Shield game with a side strain.

I hope he's right for the BBL.
We really missed him last year.

gods. You've reminded me my last three trips to the cricket -

Scorchers match where Turner went down
Pakistan ODI where Australia got flogged and lost the series (Cooper broken hand)
1st Test v India the other day where we got disassembled.

If Marsh can't bowl in Brisbane, Webster would surely need to be the first bat that comes in if they make a change.
