Yeah say what you will about the attendance at Perth tests, but at least when you schedule a Test in Perth you know you’re going to get more or less uninterrupted play. Not like the constant threats of washout in Brisbane and Sydney.
We were touch and go this year. It rained for three days before the test started.

Beau Webster has been released from the test squad so he can play in tomorrow's BBL game.

Josh Inglis on the other hand, has been kept in the squad as the reserve batsman.

Fair enough..........

It rained about 5mm across 2 days on the 19th and 20th of November. Depending on the timing that might have caused some breaks in the play but it’s nothing like the pasting that Brisbane and Sydney routinely get in summer, and the end up washing out most or all of a day’s play (Brisbane has received 66mm of rainfall today).

Brisbane was fine when it was happily left as the first test in either mid or late November each year.
Yep. Brisbane should have the first test. Sydney second test, Perth the 3rd, Melbourne boxing day and a Day Night Adelaide New Years test.
The weather patterns should dictate this. Sydney NY test is regualrly a wash the past few years and the whole tradition thing is bullshit.

Rohit’s a shit captain. Should’ve batted first. we’re gonna make a huge total imo
He is a perfectly fine Captain. Long may he rein!

But yeah I think his decision today was based on the fact he is shitting himself about his own batting. Grey skys or not, you dont send the oppo in to bat in Brissy.

It used to be that the Gabba, WACA and Adelaide Oval fought it out to be deemed the third ranked venue in the Australian Test cricket summer. There's an argument to be had that Adelaide has taken over Sydney. The physical venue is just as historic, more modern, draws in crowds and doesn't suffer constantly from rain. It should get the New Year's Test.

It of course never will.

If they simply played every test in Perth we would never have an issue
Didn't we have a test, maybe 10ish years ago, where it did rain overnight? or for the 1st session of the last day, and the curators obviously f***ed up and the rain got on under the covers😂

Tbf I read somewhere today that 6 out of the last 7 winners at the GABBA have been the side that bowled first?

Yep, last year the Windies were the first side to bat first and win at the Gabba since 2016.

I think that speaks more to how many tosses we've lost there though, I don't think we were bowling first every year by choice

Makes me laugh when they say smith is back in form. A player with as many chances as he gets will eventually make runs. He now needs to back it up in the next few games not just one innings. IF Konstas had as many chances as Smitth he would make runs at the international. Smith should never had played this game Konstas should have been given a go.
