The squad has been announced.

Apart from Abbott, I think they've got it pretty right.

Australia squad for Sri Lanka Tests: Steve Smith (c), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Travis Head (vc), Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Nathan McSweeney, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster

The night he got that 100 at Leeds was one of my favourite nights watching sport ever. Was our best bat last summer, including playing a key role in the second test win in NZ. Didn't finish on a high but I can't cop that his run in the test side since he came back in wasn't a success.

Unfortunately he'll be remembered as a great bloke who wasn't up to standard.

A batting average sub 29 and bowling average above 40 paints a fairly bleak overall picture.

Frustrating thing? Just like his brother, had the potential to be much better.

At least, he got a chance to come back and he did pretty well, apart from India of course.
He missed a fair bit of cricket earlier in the season when he went on paternity leave, which I don't think helped.

Was great to see him win the AB medal.

Has a role to play in white ball stuff going forward but would want to get some runs soon.

Winning the AB medal in a successful year is a great achievement. Could have been better, but he’s done more than the overwhelming majority of cricketers
