To be honest i didnt look that hard :D.
I just saw the totals but in essence thats what its all about.

I thought the same...

either way... Is Fev the answer? Could there be a star in the wings like Ben Reid who could take up that mantle... or will MM be after instant success by getting Fev to the Pies and almost penning in a GF appearence.

With all due respect to Ben Reid, Ben Reid vs Brendan Fevola.. thats a mantle far out of benny's grasp..!!

Plus Ben Reid is being groomed as a half back/defensive wingman..

Fev is the answer. We have been in need of a strong full forward for a number of years..

Full backs like Lake and Scarlett cut us up too easily.. Even Zac Dawson had a field day against us..

The Geelong V Collingwood Prelim was the most obvious example of the need for a strong marking accurate kicking forward. Can kick from 50+ out..! We put the ball in the air, Taylor, Mackie, Milburn and Scarlett destroyed us.

We can get a good 3 years out of Fev.. and if we can pick up the likes of a Jamie Charman or a Luke Ball as some more experienced top up players we will be a huge threat next season..

Good Post Whyte Line Feva, not sure if Im missing something, why is medhurtst leading goalscorer in 03,04? He wasnt at the pies

Sorry about that.. stupid website converted medhursts team to collingwood over all seasons rather than when he joined the pies and i was in a hurry.. the side effects of posting while at work..! :D

but i appreciate the feedback..!

Adelaide board has a rumour that we are chasing Myke Cook.

Myke Cook
Number 8
Height 184cm
Weight 77kg
DOB 09-10-1989
Debut v Collingwood, round one, 2009
Games Goals
2009 3 2009 0
Career 3 Career 0
Dreamteam Points
2009 135
BioStatsNews & VideoThe medium-sized defender from the Sandringham Dragons had his 2008 season ruined by a severe hamstring injury. He played just six games in the SANFL but his late season form in the South Adelaide reserves saw him make his league debut in the last round.

Cook was selected at pick 38 in the 2007 draft by Adelaide as a quick and aggressive player who kicks well on the run and is clever around goals. He spent the first 12 years of his life living in Adelaide attending Woodcroft College and supported the Crows as a youngster.

Is Myke short for Mychael?

Congratulations on picking up Fev. He will serve you well and as a Carlton supporter I will enjoy watching Fev kick 10 against that rabble called the Carlton backline. We are now the new Richmond and officially the laughing stock because we cannot manage an 11 year player. Enjoy.....
You've always been the laughing stock of the AFL.

Not to mention Cummings and Caracella in 2000. Although they also recorded higher figures than Anthony Rocca, the actual winner. Also, I'm pretty sure Tarrant won from 2002-2005.

Must pick up this guy in the draft so we can nickname him Chuck

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/85628/default.aspx

"Several draft hopeful have greatly enhanced their chances of getting picked up by an AFL club with performances that put them inside the top 10 results of all time.

None more so than Murray Bushranger Brayden Norris, who dug deep in the gruelling beep test conducted on an unseasonally warm Canberra day.

"He has equalled the best ever; he has equalled Jarryd McVeigh's 15-6," Sheehan said."
It would be funny to read all the Chuck Norris jokes posted about him.:D:thumbsu:

I think we are still a good chance to land Fev and Jolley... I think it'll come at a cost of losing a combination of medhurst, davis, dawes and some picks, but it might be what we need.

Fev won't be a saviour if we keep taking so long to kick the ball into the forward line. That's why the Lakes, Scarletts and co kill us. Fev kicked 80 goals this year because gibbs, murphy, judd and co got the ball to him quickly through the middle. We need to do the same. Hopefully having a ruckman who consistently taps the ball to our advantage will show the rest of the league how good our mids actually are, and be able to deliver it eanly to our FF

I'm happy for us to 'bypass' this draft. We heavily invested in the past 2-3 draft periods, I'd be happy to part with out first 2 picks this year and pray that Hine gets it right later on...

I tend to agree.
Our drafting has been very good and we have plenty of younger player either showing real AFL potential or on the verge.
At this stage we should be filling in the gaps with mature able bodied, experienced player if possible.
Leigh Brown is a great example. Without being a "big name", quite the opposite, his seasoned frame and match experience was very, very handy on many occasions this year.
Jolly can play a similar role and would be in the top 5 ruckmen currently playing. With Fev you get a forward in his prime physically and experience wise, if not in maturity.
A seasoned, hard at it midfielder would only improve us and also free up Didak and Davis to roam the flanks more often, which can be deadly as we have seen the last 2 seasons.

We really need to be looking at a real replacement for Presti soon and we don't really have the time to start with a raw young boy no matter how much potential. N. Brown will play a bigger role this year after another good preseason but you still need another option.

The focus should be on trading for established players now and we can look to youth in another few years

Just spoke with miss EQ. Seems we're really keen on that Taylor boy she wrote about in the age today. Reckons it will take a pick in the 20's though at least.

Jolly, Fevola and Ball to the pies would benefit our Flag chances greatly..

Very hard to land 3 big names when we struggle every year to even get one..

But if we are to get these players, the deals have to go through in a specific order which is even harder given the time constraints..

Pick 14 to Sydney for Jolly (although Roos says this won't be enough)

Fraser to St Kilda for Ball (both have their injury worries, but a win/win for both clubs)

Leon Davis and Sharrod Wellingham to West Coast for Pick 7

Pick 7 and Dawes to Carlton for Fevola.

Gains: Jolly, Fevola, Ball

Losses: Fraser, Davis, Wellingham, Dawes, Pick 7 and Pick 14

Team would read..

B: Goldsack, Prestigiacomo, Shaw

HB: Maxwell, N.Brown, O'Brien

C: Thomas, Pendlebury, Reid

HF: Didak, Cloke, Medhurst

F: Dick, Fevola, Anthony

R: Jolly, Swan, Ball

INT: Wood, Beams, Sidebottom Lockyer

EMG: Macaffer, Toovey, B.Johnson

Day one of the trade period is over, and surprise, surprise, not too many deals were done.

The only confirmed Collingwood news was that we offered pick 14 for Darren Jolly, but that was turned down by Sydney, with Paul Roos saying that "wasn't enough" and that Jolly will stay in Sydney unless the right deal is found.

As of now, only 2 trades are fully official;

http://www.afl.com.au/news/tradetalk/tabid/10490/default.aspx

That's the AFL's official tracker, only shows fully confirmed trades.

Guess we will have to wait for any confirmed deals for the pies, if any actually happen.;)

Edit: The Mclean to Carlton and Pick 11 to Melbourne deal was just confirmed, meaning the deadline for each day really means nothing.

3-4 years left? and what happens to the kid who he is keeping out of the team? wasting away in the twos without getting any proper development just like stanley and possibly Dawes? He will retire at the end of 2010. As will O'bree and johnson (unless delisted). might not be much interest in johnson, but i reckon we should throw his name up next week.
Compare 2009- who would you keep. O'bree or Tarks?

You can't play Lockyer, O'Bree and Johnson in the same team. We have to develop our younger guys like wellingham, mcarthy, beams, sidebottom, Dawes and macaffer. I'd also argue that we shouldn't play presti and l.brown together in the backline as we need to give more AFL time to N Brown and Reid.

The reason Sidebottom didnt play all year was so tht when finals came around he was still fresh and ready for the AFL level of football, and well didnt it work he was fantastic for us during finals.

I'm not disagreeing with 2009. If he was to play the whole season he'd probably burnout or run out of legs late in the year. I'm saying that you need to keep moving forward. Not giving Dawes enough games, as well as Reid and goldsack hold back their development. Next year, I don't think that they should play all 3 in the same game (ie lockyer, o'bree and johnson) when we can give the young guys a bit more of a run (eg wellingham and co). I also think that we need to play Reid and N brown down back a bit more to learn from presti, brown and maxwell

I'd say we've missed any potential buy-low opportunity on Reilly. He finally put together a decent, uninterrupted season in 2009.

O'bree was our number 1 tackler with 111! tarks 4th with 71.

tarks had 156 marks 1st!... finished third in our goal kicking booting 30goals!

OBREE WAS THIRD IN DISPOSALS WITH 486.
DIDAK WAS FORTH WITH 453
TARKS WAS FIFTH WITH 445.
to me they deserve all the game time they got and more!

I would rather Mumford for less than Jolly like 3rd pick and Toovey

give less for fev like Dawes and 2nd round

Fraser for ball i like it

Leon deal i like

Macaffer or Mcartney for Lovett

We keep pick 7 and 14 plus pick up Mumford, Fev, Ball and Lovett

Lose Dawes, Leon, Fraser, Macaffer, Toovey and 2nd and 3rd picks

and if i could give Didak to Port for their 1st pick

fev ahs lost his market value Carlton dont want him. And judging from the reaction of Judd on Brownlow night he has no respect. If he doesnt get traded the players wont want to play with him. He is on the outer. And if i was a carlton Supporter i would be upset too cause you wont get much for him. Bit of bad luck.

what would it take for fremantle 1st pick
Leon and Cox
